Post Subject: What's your take...
Hi there,
I'm wondering how everyone feels about losing the baby weight - how soon did you hit the gym after the birth, what did you do and did it work? Also how long does it take to lose "the pouch"?
(I'd love to hear from those who had c sections as well as vaginal deliveries)

I had a csection with my daughter. So instead of a pooch like most women have after giving birth, i have this gosh awful flab. But i gained weight everywhere, and i had preeclampsia also so i had like 70 lbs on me in water weight. Im 50 lbs heavier than i was before i got pregnant and i dont see how! I ate less then and was more active than i am now. Im stuck at home all the time so that doesnt help. But i am just now starting to lose the weight, little by little. I get so angry when i hear of these women who fit into their regular clothes at their 6 week check up or even after 3 months. I am 20 years old and i shouldnt look like this! Im younger so i thought it would be easier to lose the weight. WRONG. The only way i am even losing weight now is because ive been taking weight loss pills.
Ive been taking Hydroxycut for about a week now. Its like $20 at walmart and is a 10 day supply. You take 2 pills 30 mins before you eat with a glass of water, or if you want, they even have drink mixes which are excellent bcuz i hate water. Your not suppose to snack after dinner but i do anyways becuz i seem to want to eat more at night when my lil girl is in bed then i do when she is awake. Ive lost 7 lbs this week alone so if i keep going at this rate in the 8 wks its suppose to take i will lose 56 lbs but i dont want to lose that much so i will stop taking them before then. Ive never had such amazing results. I did cut back on what i eat and changed what i eat. Sub. a sandwich with a can of tuna helps. Ive always found that tuna helps me lose weight. I dont add anything but a little salt and eat it out of the can, thats like 100 cal. And its filling. So maybe this will help you if your tryin to lose weight!

It all depends on the person and whether you breast feed or formula feed. Your metabolism changes while pregnant but if you are a person who gains weight just looking at food it's probably going to be harder... unless your metabolism changes
I dropped a lot of my pregnancy weight right after the baby was born (lost 30 lbs by my 6 week check up, more since then but I don't own a scale... I'm afraid of them ) however, I've hit a levelling out spot and am not loosing anymore. Breastfeeding does that.
I don't think you ever loose that pouch exactly. Your abdomen muscles and uterus are all stretched out. I suppose people who work out a lot would tone up a little, but still, it's a hard one to loose.
I gained a lot of weight at first in my pregnancy because I went from a coffee and cigarette breakfast to actually eating properly but really it didn't take long to drop the weight after giving birth

baby exercise! lay on your back and put the baby in the airplane position and then scrunch up! baby loves to do the airplane and it helps you tone up your tummy. you can also lift your legs up high and then down low and this helps your thighs and (s)he thinks (s)he's on a teeter totter. hold the baby under the arms and bend down to the floor where (s)he is touching it with their toes and then back up, you can also squat this way. hold baby and twist to one side and then the other and then lift up and then down and this strengthens arm muscles. or getting a jogging stroller. for older babies that can stand up and walk you can turn on music and make your own exercise with dancing, get some cans and use them as homemade weights. you can make up all sorts of things with your baby and since they slowly get heavier you increase how much weight you can hold like at a gym.
i have all sorts of these. ^.^ it's great play time for my son.

Post Subject: Every pregnancy is different
Hi. With my first, I lost all the baby weight prior to his 2 week check-up...Then again, I only gained 26 pounds with him. The jelly belly didn't go away though so when he was about 17 months, I finally got into a work out routine. I was doing great working out at least 3 days a week and taking walks besides. After 3 weeks I had lost almost 10 pounds. Then I found out I was pregnant and stopped the workouts immediately. Now that I think of it, I could have kept going, but with a much less intensity. I ended up gaining 38 pounds with my second and now that he's 2 months old, I still have 20 of the original gain to lose. Once again, I am trying to get into that routine of working out 3 days a week and walking. It isn't as easy with two at home, and the baby staying up late and getting up in the middle of the night. I am on the same workout as before, and still love it. It is TurboJam, if you are interested, check out beachbody.com Good luck in your weight loss!

My son just turned nine months old and I am just now actively trying to lose weight. I lost 22 lbs. in the first two weeks, now I just have 20 more to go. Although, I my goal is actually 40lbs. I've cut my calories down to 1200 or less. Granted, I have only been doing this for four days. I've also been walking and jogging a little bit.

I gained 38 lbs, and had a v-delivery.
I think breastfeeding was key for me. I steadily lost weight, getting to within 5 lbs of my pre-pregnancy weight by the time my dd was 3 months old. I started exercising when she was about 7 weeks, but it doesn't seem to make much difference, the breastfeeding was what did it. Good thing too, because 3 days after I got home from the hospital I packed up all my maternity clothes!
So right now dd is 5.5 months, and I'm still around 5lbs up from pre-pregnacy weight. But my waist is def. different, not as toned certainly, I can "pinch" more than I ever could before. Oh well, she's worth it!

Someone posted that they hate those women who lose the weight in 6 weeks... that is just rude. I had 2 c-sections. I gained 70 lbs. with my twins (60 plus 10 from the IVF drugs). I was 31 when they were born. It took me 8 weeks to lose the weight. I started walking slowly 2 weeks after they were born (worked it up to a 2 mile a day run) and dieted. I ate about 1200 calories a day. My doctor said if I felt fine, it was ok to exercise. I then gained 60 lbs. with my daughter & lost it in 10 weeks (I lost 10 lbs. less delivering her since there was only one baby in there). I was 34 years old when she was born. Everyone said I would not lose it at my age and I did... but let's face it, fad diets & pills don't work, good old fashion diet & exercise does. It just takes discipline. Most people gain it all back after trying fads. I exercise daily, still. I just made it a way of life. There is always time in a day to fit in 15 minutes of walking... even for very busy people - and it works wonders.

I owe the majority of my weight loss to breastfeeding. I believe it really helped burn my fat away. I gained about 35 lbs during my pregnancy and can't recall when I lost all of it, but most of it was gone after birth and by the third month I could fit into my pre-baby clothes. I've actually gone down a few sizes from before I was pregnant. I try to stay active and eat healthy but am not big on working out, except if you count running after my one year old all day! (which, if you're a mom, you do a lot of working out just taking care of baby!) I've found that it makes me feel better and my baby better to get out and walk around, whether it be at a park, in the mall, etc. I still have some loose skin around my tummy... and hoping that will go away with some ab workouts? Overall weight loss is due to breastfeeding, in my opinion. I'm a big supporter of it.
