Has anyone been told they'd need to be induced by their doc and be allowed to:
use the "burley ball", certain aromatherapy scents that are said to induce contractions, pressure point over the use of Pitocin?

Did anyone ask and the doctor try to pursuade you that any of it doesn't work?

Diddo lismom2. I was a week late and was only 2 cent dialated and had been that way for the past 3 weeks. I felt like there was no end in sight. My doc was setting up things for inducing. I had been bouncing on a birthing ball, I walked the mall and every other shopping center in my area, I ate spicy food (and got heart burn), I did basically everything short of drinking castor oil (there was no way). The night before I went into labor, we "did the deed" and contractions started the next day. My doc did say that nothing will really "make" you go into labor until you are ready. He said he has checked for dialation and the women have had contractions shortly after. Same kind of thing with sex. Before commiting to being induced, try sex. It may be uncomfortable and ackward, but I think it is what started my labor. Maybe it was just luck, but whatever it was, I was ready!
