Default Is my Weight Gain ok?

I'm 18wks 1 day. The last time I went to the Dr. I was 14wks 2 days and weighed 142lbs which was a 2lb weight gain from my first appt at 9wks2d which wasn't bad since I had horrible nausea to the point where I couldn't really eat until I hit my 2nd trimester. Anyways. Since my last appt according to my scale I now weigh 149lbs which is a lot of weight in only 4 weeks. I go to the Dr. again when I'm 20wks 2 days to find out what we're having. Has anyone else gained weight like this? My belly has popped since 16wks and gotten bigger, I don't look like I've gained any weight anywhere besides my belly, love handles and chest. My Dr. is super stricted about weight gain and I'm also worried about gaining to much weight. I've always had to watch my weight.

I do work out Monday, Wednesay, or Fridays. I will walk twice those days and do squats, lunges, push ups, and some ab work outs on my ball.

Sorry I babbled I just want to make sure people have enough info.

So are you saying you've gained 9# total so far? Seriously, I think you're fine. Yeah, 7# sounds like a lot in 1 month but you've had to play catch up after all your nausea. (I can completely relate there.) I had severe morning sickness each time and lost weight during 1st tri, to the point where ob was getting very concerned, but in the 2nd tri those pounds all came back, with friends.

If a normal pregnancy weight gain is 25-35 pounds, and you've gained 9 almost halfway through, I'd say you're doing more than fine. And if your ob is "strict" about weight gain and criticizes that, I'd go doctor shopping. HTH!

I like that my Dr is strict about weight gain he doesn't want the mommies gaining over 35lbs so he makes sure they gain the weight gradually and if they gain it to fast he has a talk with them about what their eating and how much they are exercising. I've always watched my weight so this gaining thing is hard. I lost 9lbs and now all together I've gained 13lbs and I'm 19 weeks. I know it's normal I guess but it bothers me and I feel like I'm gaining it fast.

My husbands cousin is only 9 weeks pregnant and has already gained 30lbs and has stretchmarks. Does that sound crazy or what?

I'm 19weeks gained 13lbs and have a cute belly going. I don't even have stretch marks and I went from a 6 pack to this. I know it's only a matter of time before I get the stretch marks but seriously at 9 weeks? That can't be healthy weight gain when you should only gain 30-35lbs.

Eek, yeah, I'd say 30 lbs at 9 weeks means she's taking "eating for two" way too seriously... never mind that the 2nd she's eating for is the size of a bean! :O That can't be good, unless she started out seriously underweight! She could really benefit from some nutritional counseling.

So you're half done, gained 13# (half of 26#, in normal range). Plus the 2nd tri is where you do your fastest growing. SERIOUSLY, I think you're ok. Just remember you need to have some stores for the health of your baby. And it will come off! Esp if you're as active as it sounds like... if you breastfeed you could be back down close to pre-preg weight by your 6 week check. (Notice I said, pre-preg WEIGHT, not BODY... if the stretch marks come, say bye-bye to the sexy, taut tummy even when I'm below pre-preg weight there's loose skin there...) Oh well, they are completely worth it... <3 <3 <3

His cousin was at a healthy weight before shes 5'2 or so and weighed between 110-120lbs then she got pregnant and now she's already gained 30lbs. It's crazy. She says she eats healthy and stuff but seriously you don't gain 30lbs from eating healthy and her Dr said she was fine?! Seriously no she's not. The Dr didn't even tell her what vitamins to take she was asking me and my husband what to do. Isn't that what Dr.'s are for? If I were her I'd find a new one.

But I am very active. I just felt like I gained the weight so fast. I eat healthy just not super healthy and all the time. I do splurge on the bad things but I try to walk more that day to balance out or eat healthy for dinner or the following day. It's just so hard to eat good all the time. I want french fris everyday but can't do it. lol.

I know I'll get my weight back just not the body. That's fine with me. I'll work on the body part after I have my 2nd. I only want 2 kids. My hubby said we can save up for a tummy tuck if I'm really unhappy. He wouldn't care either way he said. I love him! He's such an awesome husband!

I was kind of like that. Only had a couple pound difference the first few times and then all of a sudden I gained like 10 lbs in one month and then the next time went back down again. Everyone's body is different and some people do get spikes. I also gained about 35 lbs and lost 22 in the first two weeks -- what I didn't know at the time was that a HUGE portion of my weight gain was fluid. I wasn't even swollen. So, you never know.
