Default Going out of my mind.

One of the safer communities here is the one were I live. Well it used to be. In less than a week it has been reported that two houses were rob at night will the owners were sleeping. That wasn't enough for the sons of #@$%^^$, they also raped the women and tight the men. Its awful. I'm just going out of my mind. To many stuff at the same time. And all I want is for my son to grow healthy and happy. I'm just so scared right now. And to add to that the deaths cause by the swine virus are rising with 8 confirmed death and 19 suspicious. I'm freaking out, I don't want anyone touching my baby, even my family.

thanks for listening or reading for that matter,
    Lisa

How horrible Elissa. I know when you have children (or not) you feel for their safety. This is definitly a crazy world we live in. I refuse to watch the news. The news has always been terrible but have you heard of all the childrens abuse, deaths and murders on TV lately? To sad.

Please take percautions, adding locks, leaving lights on, etc. I hope the police are being alert in your neighborhood. Please be careful.

I'm with u, this is a crazy world. The only thing that comes to my mind is what kind of future will be there for my son. It's horrible to think that it will get worst from year to year.

and yes I'm trying to think of everything I can do to make my house more safe. I already made the call to put a gate on the front door. What I haven't figure out is what to do with the glass sliding door. It has a lock but I think is not enough.

In regards to the police, I have not seen I single patrol taking a preventive watch. It's lame.

It's a terrible thing to be in your own house and not feel safe - the stuff you hear on TV just gets more and more depressing. Your instinct is to protect you child but you question whether or not you can! I'm sorry to hear about the issues in your neighborhood - I agree with you on the sliding glass door. On our double door slider, we had a broomstick (minus the broom) that was cut to fit the width of one of the doors. Then we put it on the ground in the track - if someone manages to open the lock mechanism, they are still unable to open the door because the stick prevented them from getting in. You just have to make sure to remember to put it in when you close the door!

We have 2 sliding glass doors with broomsticks and 2 locks at the top.
You can purchase a sliding lock that attaches to the top of the door also. You have to drill holes and it requires a little work. It comes with a key.....great safety device for keeping children inside too.

You can buy an inexpensive alarm that has self adhesive strips on it. It is plastic and requires batteries. It comes in two pieces and you place them together, one on the door and one on the frame. When the 2 parts are seperated by the door opening, and alarm sounds. It's loud. An intruder could knock it down I suppose or it could be a deterrant for him. I have one on my door that enters into our garage because of 3 tiny escape artists that I have.

The gate may not seem much to you but to a burglar, he might see it as an inconvenience for time and might simply choose another house. Good call.
Just go to your local hardware store and get info on products. I sound like a commercial! lol Be safe.

OMG I'm really starting to loose my mind. Apparently there are more cases but for some reason they were covering it. Now it all came out. And to my astonishment they are entering the houses even with the gate. They manage to break the locks. It's horrible. The nearest home depot is low on safety supplies and the guy told my husband that the people from the neighborhood came like a hurricane was coming. I'm so freak out that I even cried. I just dont know what to do. And the gate that I order comes tomorrow so one more non sleep night for me. Yesterday I even hide the baby monitor near the entrence so I could hear if they were breaking in. And I put a chair on the door holding the lock. I also put the baby's gate in the door to add some resistance if they did manage to open the lock. In the sliding glass door I put a lot of toys and chairs and stuff so if they do manage to get in they will make a lot of noise and gives time to call 911. I'm telling u I'm become a crazy person. I even have a strange pain in my chest and my hubby keeps telling me to try and relax b/c maybe I'm causing my pressure to rise or something.
