Default *update* Went to Doc today

YAH!!!!!! Well sorta. I went to doc. Did exam...im still not dilated but im 90% effaced. He gave me the option of waiting another week or having her thursday...so yall all know which i picked. I have to be there at 3 am thursday morning to induce. Gonna try it natural.

Anyone that has been scheduled to be induced....What all did you have to do? Did you have to fast? (he didnt tell me to) What all did they do to you? He told me that now you dont have to wait until you are 4cm for an epi that I can have it anytime i want it. How long did yall wait?

YAY!! so exciting! you will have to let us know how it goes as soon as you get a moment to get on here!

well i was scheduled to be induced on a friday but Caleb decided he didnt want us to pick his b-day so he came on thursday. so im not exactly sure what they do, but i do know somewhat cause my SIL was in the same situation as you. and she went in at 7am they told her not to eat past midnight, and when she got to the hospital they just got her situated and got all the meds going, my SIL got the epidural right away and the only down fall to that is you cant walk or sit you have to lay down the whole time. and she didnt have her son until 11:56pm that night so she had to lay in bed for 12 hrs, she was miserable. if i was you i would at least wait till the contractions started so you can walk and sit to help things go a little faster.
i never got and epidural, so im not really sure.
i hope this helps somewhat......Good Luck

thanks. i was gonna wait until i couldnt bear it to get the epi. Ive been having mild contractions since 3 am this morning but doc said maybe they were false because i hadnt dilated. i was gonna try to not eat anything that would 'go through my system" too quick tomorrow. Definately stop eating around 7 or 8. we're bringing the portable dvd player and some movies and both of our ds's and a book since i get bored very very easily.

LOL yeah i get bored quick too! thats why i wouldnt get the epidural until i really needed it cause i cant just lay there! thats one thing i wish i would of done was bring some stuff to do but i didnt think about it. after they give you your first med walk up and down the hall, and sit in a chair or on the side of the bed, it will help some to get you dilating faster. i hope it goes fast for you so you dont have to sit there waiting all day!

i hope im not there forever either....we just got some semi bad news...our boss has known about this for a long time. He told her today that we were going to have baby thursday and she turned around and asked him if she needed to find someone to cover for him thursday night? ARE you kidding me? we work at a pizza place and suddenly everyone has decided to quit and instead of taking applications and hiring people to work she seems to think that she can just use the 4 people that still work there and make them work double shifts. She told my dh several weeks back that she would have his shifts covered if i go into labor. Now shes turning back on her word. Told him he could have thursday off but had to work friday sat and sun not to mention all next week, double shifts. not giving him any time off PLUS i dont see her reasoning in thinking Ill be let go thursday night...what if the baby waits until friday to come? I know she wont fire him because hes worked there for 13 years but still i think shes being a lil un-compassionate (if that is the word) for the situation. If i come home friday, means we come home and he has to automatically go to work for the rest of the night. Am i being crazy or do i have a reason to be a lil upset? i mean i would think she would let him spend some time with his first child after shes born...not to mention help me out.......

I was scheduled to be induced... the day after I gave birth... Munchkin couldn't wait one more day!

As my OB explained it (when I asked if he was serious that I had to be at the hospital at 6 am because I don't do 6 am) that it can take a long time when they induce so expect to be there all day.

Now, when I did start having contractions, I stopped so they had to start me on pictocin (or however that's spelled) to get me going again. That's how they'll normally start when inducing.
It took under 12 hours to completely dilate and deliver for me. I got the epidural right away which made it easier. I didn't really get intense pain until just before pushing... which is the way they like it, they don't like totally numbing you. But even then it was manageable.

Every labor is different, and I didn't spend a lot of time pushing (15 minutes) but I would say it will take at least 12 hours, more if you have to push a lot.

They induced me and broke my water about 1245. ( I was already a one then) and my son was born at 754pm. I did however go from a 6 to a 10 in about five minutes. I had just got my epi and it didnt kick in until the doc was pulling his legs out. Good Luck! Heather
