    Default Irresponsibility

I had a dog named Kiyoshi [key-oh-she], it means quiet/shy in Japanese. Fit him perfectly. He was a scaredy cat by all means towards humans, but loved other dogs. He was $800, purebred and show material. Having a baby prevented me from showing him. He was gonna be four years old this year, and I thought he'd grow with Ruby and be her special playmate. :[

But instead... the neighbors have two Akita's, very territorial dogs. And they have a chihuahua and a mutt of some kind. So one of their Akita's killed my dog... He was on his tie up outside, the other dog was free. So you can see how unfair the fight was for one thing... besides the fact that it was a large vs medium sized dog.

Thank God my mom was here today. We're gonna turn the lady's dog in ASAP... cuz what if that had been my daughter outside?? What if she was a little older and playing outside??? I would not put it past those dogs. They're mean. They trust one person, and that's their owner and the owner's close family. Anyone else, including extended family that doesn't visit often, is a threat. And that lady, in owning a purebred Akita shoulda KNOWN when she bought the dog. She shoulda known when she got home and saw her dog off the chain that that dog needed to be put away. It just pisses me off how stupid some dog owners can be. I mean, I read EVERY SINGLE book, article, etc about cocker spaniels before I bought mine.

I dunno why I didn't think it thru and bring Kiyo in. And this on top of everything else going wrong. It's just crappy...

I'm sorry to hear about Kiyoshi

I 100% agree you should do something about those dogs, you're right, what if it was Ruby? What about another dog or child in the neighborhood?

It's hard enough to loose one family member, Kiyoshi, but the thought of danger to Ruby or yourself as well....

Very sorry to hear about your dog. You're right that your neighbors are very irresponsible dog owners. Notify authorities in your area. Is it possible these dogs have attacked other animals/people in your area? You may be able to have the violent dog/s removed from your neighborhood, it might be something worth checking into if you feel they are still a threat after you talk with the authorities.

Thanx guys... I hate that my dog had to die to prove those dogs were dangerous. We ended up burying him under a bush in the backyard... even though it's illegal or whatever. I don't really care... it's my dog and I'm living here, so I think it's my choice.

The Akita's were taken away. Dunno exactly what's gonna happen, my mom kinda handled the situation and I tried to keep calm and take care of Roo. I'm just glad those dogs are out of the neighborhood and away from my daughter and my home.

Well, I'm glad they took the dogs away. I hope they don't get put to sleep, rather put someplace where they can be rehabilitated.

Yeah, most places have laws against burying your animals in your yard. Though when our cat died the vet told us they don't enforce it too much as long as you bury them so many feet down (can't remember how many). We had the cat cremated though, we weren't going to leave him behind in Missouri (he was born in Ohio... and a very special cat to us )

Yeah... I really don't want the dogs punished. I mean, I understand. They were both uncut males, the Akita was proving he was the stronger leader. Protecting his territory. I do want the owners punished. That damn dog wouldn't have felt the need to be predatory if they had him properly chained... or better yet, put up a fence! I just moved in... we're putting up a fence ASAP... We just didn't get it up fast enough.

I woulda had him cremated... but I wanted him put back into the Earth [might be weird, but it's as organic as I get].
