Well, it has taken me 4 hours to figure out that Parenting Magazine really doesn't make it easy to make any comments, but I have to say, I am completely offended by Denene Miller's comments about baby before marriage. I was married 13 years before I had my first, but that doesn't mean I need a sanctimonious "OUR" values are "first comes marriage, then comes baby....." and slamming those that might have children before or no marriage. Just because they are celebritities they get your wrath? What about those that aren't? What about those that aren't that have made a bad decision? I can't believe Parenting Magazine is reaching out to possible new parents that are looking to this magazine for guidiance, only to find themselves judgled so harshly. I, for one, will not be reading her articles.

I have to say that I think you are overreacting a little bit. When I read the article, I didn't read anything "wrathful". She clearly states that kids before marriage is fine for other people, but that she wants to teach her daughters HER values--and isn't that what we're supposed to do as mothers?

Oh, and the article is in the May issue, page 53, not the April issue, if anyone wants to read it.

I say kudos to Denene for stating her values. When she writes "our" I believe it means her family, not parenting magazine. Anyway in this Christian-bashing culture of ours, it's really nice to occasionally see a glimmer of something in the media that actually resembles my own values. Keep up the fabulous work, Denene.
