i'm sure parenting didnt post any swearing words in an artical but even if they did so what the only ones who really read these magazines are grown up and i think they can handle *****, and if your kids are reading it than oh well they will eventually hear it some where else so why not have it be now that way you can explain to them what it means.

and i had no idea the words were blurred out, i think i've only ever used damn on here.

Well Jolee I believe this is something recent. I’ve posted messages stating how my husband’s daughter’s mom is such a bihatch, and I used a hand full of other words, they weren’t blurred out before. I don’t know, I feel like a child :/

Jeez I must be horrible I tell my daughter to suck it up all the time!!

Was it really a good idea to bash parenting magazine on a parenting magazine forum filled with parenting magazine fanatics?

I'm not offended at all, but this may be because I don't have a school age child and I tell my daughter to suck it up.

My husband tells our son to suck it up. I tell him to bite me (one day he will too... when he has teeth).

Now to be serious (and seriously in defense of the magazine) acceptable phrases/words change all the time. Take the word gay for instance. Way back when it meant happy and wasn't derogatory. Then it became a slang term for homosexual, when it was acceptable to say homosexual. The word lost it's slightly derogatory meaning for awhile when the term homosexual became acceptable to say, then became a very derogatory word more recently (as in "Oh my God, that was so gay!").

What we're seeing is a metamorphism of the English language. It's a change that happens... what used to be a taboo word/phrase becomes common and acceptable. Suck it up and ***** have become common.
A lot of people will see it as a degradation of morals and decency, but there's no stopping that. Anyone remember when the band Kiss was considered an attack on the morals of young people? Now, they look innocent compared to the stuff that's out there now.

Am I saying just sit back and take it? (or suck it up, *****?). Yeah... I am. Because 100 years ago what we consider overly restrictive was considered loose morals back then.

LMAO! This thread made my day!
I'm not a native english speaker, so maybe I don't *really* get how inappropriate these phrases are, however, I fail to see anything wrong with them.
But this censoring on a forum targeted to adults seems at the very least ridiculous.

All I can say is...guilty guilty guilty. Im that person that you'll catch calling something gay. For example "Man you saw Mama Mia? How gay." I also use terms like queerdo...its queer and weirdo together, usually something I tell my guy friends. Its none offensive to us, but then again it might be to a homo. Who knows.
