    Default I need help...

My daughter's name is Gretchen Sofia and she has a sibling due in September. I had a really difficult time naming her and only named her after being harassed by the hospital staff to finish the birth certificate. So, needless to say, I want my name(s) selected ahead of time this time.

I just wanted to throw this out there to see what people thought sounded good with Gretchen. I know I don't want anything that starts with a G or ends with an N. I hate the current double-syllable-long-a names (Caitlin, Aiden, Jayda, Kayla, etc). I'm not into unisex or trends either. I tend to like classic names, maybe old fashioned. Something you've heard of but probably don't know anyone personally with that name.

I haven't found out the gender yet, so looking for both. I really appreciate any help I can get.

im not very good at names but i like Abigail, my mom really wants me to name my daughter (she's due in sept. also) that but we already picked her name. or you can use Hailey? thats gonna be her name.
boy names are so much harder! i had a heck of a time picking my sons name! if we were gonna have another boy we were going to pick Conner

i would maybe do some looking online you can find MILLIONS of names im sure there will be one that just jumps right out to you!
    good luck!

Yeah, I have three different baby naming books and have spent a lot of time online (I'm on bedrest)... not seeing anything that jumps out yet

Jen - do you have any favorite books or TV shows or movies? Sometimes characters can jump start an idea for names. Also, babynames.com has a BUNCH of name lists, like entertainers' kids names (some are CRAZY but some are sweet and unique).

I'm with you, tho, I'm not a big fan of the current popular names, nor do I like naming a child a "nickname", and I tend to like classic names, like Elizabeth and Catherine, Matthew and James. My name is Victoria - feel free to use it

I like Catherine... you could call her Kate or Katie. It "meshes" well with Gretchen.

I always say "picture the Holiday card"...

    "Love,
    __(dad)__, __(mom)__,
    Gretchen & Catherine"

As for a boy, I agree with "Matthew" or maybe "Michael". They're strong, but old-fashion names... and not NEARLY as common now-a-days and they were 10 years ago when I was in school!

I can't have anymore kids and am so disappointed I didn't get to use my last two favorite names. They are Evangeline (girl) and Julian (boy).
Mother of two best friends - who could ask for anything more?
