Question Anyone on the "Mini Pill"?

After my son is born, I want to get on birth control again so my doctor and I were discussing my options since I want to breastfeed. Has anyone used or been on the "mini pill"? If so what was your experience. I am going to get more information on it today and do some research on it. I just don't want to get pregnant again for a while and not too comfortable with just using protection. Before I got pregant I was using Ortho Cylen wich I really liked.

I am not sure on the brand that I was on. But I was on a mini pill while nursing. It was fine only there are none of the placibo pills so it was a continuous time with no period. Around 6 months my body started to go back to normal (although still nursing) and I started to get my period again. So they switched me to a more normal one. I actually felt really good on it, you just have to make sure you take it everyday because it is a daily dose of hormones needed. Some side effects I had was a bit of a decrease of milk supply but I was a dairy cow so that was fine by me. But you do need to go on birth control I got pregnant with the second while still nursing the first. She was 9 months old when I found out I was pregnant. (but thats a good thing)

I was on the "mini pill" after my last 2 children and had no problems nursing while on it. You just have to make sure that you do take at the same time every day and as soon as you stop nursing, go to a regular pill or use another back up method. My NP warned me that you can EASILY get pregnant on the mini pill after you stop nursing.

I had no problems with it, other than some very occasional spotting.

i had a lot of problems with it, i felt like it really decreased my supply but with more fluid intake and consistant pumping (baby got nipple confusion or just liked the bottle better) i finally got it back. And i also had a bad problem with periods coming every other week, the NP said just give it a few months so i did. and still no change. recently i stopped the pill and continued nursing and my cycle seemed to go back to normal. but i have to be really careful during sex, hubbie does'nt like the raincoat.

I think maybe it depends on which mini pill you're on? But I am taking Jolivette and although I only took it for about a month, it was fine. I didn't notice any side effects really and my gynecologist assured me it wouldn't interfere with my milk supply. I stopped taking it though because I thought my son was getting irritable with stomach aches from it...but his pediatrician told me it had nothing to do with the mini pill. So I'm going to go back on it but make sure you take pregnancy tests here and there because you can still be able to get pregnant on it, that's what my gynecologist told me.
