Default Mirena implant and a new baby

My baby is ten months old. About nine months ago I got the Mirena implant.

This leads me to two questions.

1.) Did anyone have trouble getting pregnant after the implant is removed? How long did it take etc. I kind of want to ask if it hurt when it was removed but I'm afraid of the answer! I thought it hurt to have it put in.

    and...

2.) My baby is only ten months old. What is a good amount of time between children? I'd like to definitely have two, maybe three. Our baby is an angel and quite the blessing. Is it too overwhelming to have them so close? Or is it fun? My sister and I were nearly four years apart and that had its obvious advantages and disadvantages.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

Well I'm not sure about the Mirena implant.

I can however give an ideas on how far apart to have little ones through others I have asked. I am is the same situation. I want to have three maybe four little ones so I asked a few people about the age gap between their little ones.

My MIL has all four of her boys 2 to 2 1/2 years apart except the last little one was only 1 1/2 years apart. She said this worked wonderfully because the two year old was a little bit independent and could feed himself and entertain himself if she needed to get the baby when crying or feed the baby. The other advantage was that the 2 year old would want to help change the diaper or help play with the little one as well.

My friend had twins and then needed fertility treatments to get pregnant again. They ended up having triplets Three years after the twins. This was an advantage she said because the twins would play with the babies and be as helpful as can be and they were independent enough to be able to entertain themselves if the babies needed alot of attention. The twins also took it upon themselves to teach the triplets how to sit up and crawl and walk. My friend said it was soo cute to watch. The twins are 5 years old now and the triplets are 2 she says they are inseparable - close enough in age to be able to play together.

My neighbors little ones are 18 months apart and she said at times it can be hectic and she sometimes feels like pulling her hair out, but she loves the idea that they will be able to do everything together since they are so close in age and that just thinking about that makes it worth it.

Hope this helps you at least with your second question.

I am currently recovering from surgery from the Mirena implant I was one of the few that it punctured through my uterus. But I am glad that it is working for you. I have 2 kids My daughter will be 3 on 6/10/08 and my son will be 2 on 12/9/08 that puts them 18 months apart. Well cosidering both kids were a surprise I couldn't be happier. It was an adjustemt but I finally have there schedules down. The most important thing is to keep the older one active in whatever you do with the baby. I have heard mixed things about the age difference between kids but now I am finding: Yeah! It may be a bit harder in the begining, but my kids now are each other best friends and they keep each other occupied, and mainly I wouldn't change a thing.

I was one of the ones that had trouble with the implant as well. I had surgery back in February of 08 to get it removed. I have 3 kids 8, 4, and 1 so it is really up to you how long to wait between kids. All 3 of my kids were surprise but you do have to remember to keep them active in the baby and let them "help" you out.

That's too bad about the problems you have experienced with the implant. I haven't had any issues. It did hurt when it was inserted. I've gone probably six or eight months without a period and the other day I started again .

I have 3 children and 1 on the way. My children are 11, 4, and almost 2. The new baby is due in June. My oldest child I had during my first marriage. He wasn't sure about having children so it took me forever to convince him. Then we had my first little angel. We separated 3 years later when he had an affair. I remarried about 3 years later and my current husband wanted to have children right away (just like I did) so we did. This our third little angel. We had them 2 years apart because that seemed like an ideal age and time between. It has worked out well for us. All of my little ones are girls and each time a new one comes along the other siblings really love the new baby and want to help with her and love on her. They play together nicely and mostly get along well. It has worked very well for us. There are so many years between my 11 year old and my others that it is hard for them to connect sometimes. Most of the time my oldest daughter is really good about playing with her sisters and spending time with thm.

As far as the Mirena implant goes....I was considering gettting this after my current little one is born. I think this will be my last baby (4 is the number I always wanted). I was a little nervous about having my tubes tied, just in case I changed my mind and wanted more children, and I am a bit nervous about being cut. Now I'm not so sure about this choice either. I don't want anything that will puncture my uterus or anything like that. Does that happen alot?

Hi... I had the Mirena implant for about a year, and after I had it removed (it did hurt a little to have it taken out and I was crampy for about 3 days) I ended up getting pregnant about 6 months later. We weren't trying really hard or anything, but it only took 6 months. Also, my girls were 15 months apart... it was REALLY hard at first, since they were both so little AND in diapers, but now they are almost 3 and just turned 4 and they are great friends. They play together all the time and I can't imagine doing it any differently now. They would be so lonely without each other! So, if you're thinking of having another one, just know that it's tough at first but it's worth it later on. Good luck

I have a friend who has had some issues with the implant but I don't know all the details.

As far as age difference, I have one child, 10mo old. I was discussing age difference with my Grandmother yesterday. She has 10 children. My mother is the oldest and is closest to the 3rd youngest. I have cousins who are under 1yr apart and are in their thirties and can't stand each other, have been that way always. My brother and I are adopted and 3 1/2 yrs apart and get along great, and we are nothing alike. Grandma and I agree that it all depends on the siblings, this is not something you can plan. This came up because I was talking about when we should try for another.
