They make wipes, like baby wipes, but Mr Clean ones and things like that. Maybe wipe them down with those, and then with a wet papertowel afterwards and dry them to be sure theres no leftover cleaner on them?

Don't buy stuffed animals that talk. I've had way too many accidents that I just don't buy them anymore. It's impossible to clean those things. Sorry that doesn't help at all, but it's good advice.

For hard toys, Clorox makes disinfecting wipes with bacteria-killing bleach. Just make sure you wipe them long enough for the bleach to work. A simple swipe won't do it. You need to keep the solution damp for a full minute or two.

For stuffed animals, a turn through the washing machine and dryer should work. Of course, that would render the voicebox useless, but depending on how annoying the toy is, that might be a good thing. And since we all know that mommy would never hurt a toy, you get the bonus of blaming it all on the washing machine.

maybe the best option would be for us to all petition toy makers to make it where we can remove the sensitive equipment for cleaning on future toys rather than sit about and wonder how to do it. really how hard would it be to make the 'tickle me elmo' type toys with a 'removable skin' that you could toss in the washer? and for the soft other toys a small connection that you could remove from a zippered compartment and keep everything safe for cleaning. I know it's possible.

For hard toys when I worked in a daycare we used to use lysol, I've heard great things about the lysol wipes as well.

I got a great one for you!!! If the toy has exterior dirt than that definitely the Clorox/Lysol wipes. However, if you want to get rid of the true nastiness hiding deep with-in (lol), put the toy in a plastic bag and stick it in the freezer for a couple of days, take of the plastic bag off, and throw it in the dryer. This will kill the dust mites and such. Good luck!
On my way to number two! I love being a mommy! Absolutely the greatest gift ever!!!

    Germ Guardian Nursery Sanitizer http://www.toysrus.com/product/index...ductId=2747241

Though it doesn't do for larger toys.
