Well, I won't lie. If you chose not to place your son up for adoption, this situation will be very difficult for you. Chances are you'll lose your teenage years, and just becoming a teen at 13, that's a lot to ask for. Being a mother means putting your son first every single time, which for every parent is a struggle, not to mention teenagers. To be truthful, I'm 18 years old and I struggle. I can imagine that keeping your child seems like the solution because you love him or her and can't fathom adoption. However, if you think you'll save yourself from the pain by choosing motherhood, think again. If you are not prepared mentally and physically for the blessings and hardships of parenthood, you won't make it and your son will not turn out to be a productive member of society.

On the other hand, if you believe you can provide your son with a stable environment, then hold your head up high and embrace this new life. Just ask yourself if you are willing to put your life on hold for at least a few years to take care of your child. It will be very hard at first while you adjust to all of the changes, but as your son gets older, he'll be in daycare or school and you can get your education (or work) and life will stabilize. Also, you need to be sure if you're going to be a mother that you'll have a strong support line for the baby. You need somewhere to live and pay for all of the expenses since you're not old enough to have a job. Finally, if you're feeling stressed, you'll need someone to take the baby for you. Never shake or hit or handle your baby roughly. It could be fatal.

Just remember that you'll need to decide on your own. No one can decide for you. If you need to talk, I'm here to listen. : )

If you do decide to keep the baby just remember that the baby is more important than friends, social events, and being popular. I was a teenage mom and having my daughter did kill my social life and it made finishing high school very hard, but she was such a joy that all the hard times were better every time I looked at her. I now am finishing my college degree and have both my daughter and a son. Overall I think as babies boys are harder, but girls are so much harder as school age, preteen, and teenagers. This will be the hardest thing you have ever done so hopefully the father and/or your parents will help you because I don't think I would have gotten through it without the father and my family. It is very important for you to see the doctor regularly while pregnant and take your prenatal vitamins, plus no drinking alcohol and no smoking. It is time to change your whole life, hopefully for the better.
