I was just wondering if mine were too high. My precious 3 year old is good, kind, well-behaved, and quite bright. Howsoever, he recently took something without asking and promised that next time he would ask. The next day he did the same thing, and once again, he promised he would ask first the next time.

Am I expecting too much for a child to withstand temptation? Though I am very pleased that he recognizes what he did and is willing to do better the next time, I am wanting him to keep his promise. He understands that keeping promises builds trust. He also understands how important it is to him that I keep my promises to him.

I was just wanting to get your thoughts on how you have handled this kind of situation...Is it too much to ask a child to keep his promise. I am disappointed in him, but again, are my expectations too high?

Thanks for any input you may offer.
