    Question Nervous

    Hey Y'all,

This is my first pregnancy and am about 7 weeks. I have been using Jergen's Skin Firming Lotion for months now and didn't even think it would be an issue. Now I have heard it might cause birth defects and am totally freaking out. Any advice?

It seems that everytime you turn around you've done something that someone says you weren't supposed to do... For me, I ate sushi for a good 2 months before I heard it may be an issue. My doctor told me to stop eating it but to relax... It MAY be an issue, it is not GUARANTEED to be an issue. She told me that many of the precautions are to prevent what is a SMALL chance of an adverse effect. Do the best you can with the info you have, but don't stress if you hear about yet another thing you may have done (like for me - again - I took hot baths before I knew you shouldn't). Once you know about the risks and have a chance to verify, you can decide for yourself how to amend your behavior. I recommend asking your Dr about using Jergen's...She can decide if any additional testing is needed to ensure things are going normal, but chances are high she will just advise you discontinue using it until after the pregnancy and you can relax.

I was also told not to have herbal tea and my midwife was like who is telling you this? the Jergens thing might be because you do not want too much vitamin a and some lotions have vitamin a but i really wouldn't worry about it.

What are other things people have heard about pregs that seemed crazy? Kind of a fun game..

You may have to understand my MIL and my own mother but when I first told them we were expecting the first thing out of their mouth's was "you can't vaccuum or clean. He has to do all that b/c it uses your stomach muscles." Of course they were doing their best to have dear hubby do all the work but I can't let that happen. This way it's the way I like it.

A male co-worker told me yesterday I would have to stop getting my nails polished or it could hurt the baby

I just laughed and walked away
