My son is 8 1/2 and has a hidden penis also. My sons Drs both pediatric/general/uroligists have all said he is just "puffy" chubby there and that everything is of normal size. He had an ultrasound done to rule out a hernia. They all said he will grow out of it too. He has been ridiculed by his peers for years now and hates going "#2" also because of his lack of a penis to prevent peeing everywhere. I have been frustrated with the lack of concern by his doctors all these years. I am glad to have found this site. I will now go after the drs for further investigation.

I have been searching for answers for my son. We have known about the hidden penis for a few years now. My son will be 3 in July. I just took him back to a pediatric urologist yesterday to inquire (yet again) about possible solutions. Dr gave me some cream to use on him for the next month & then come back for re-evaluation. The cream is supposed to help the skin "relax" because we constantly have to keep vaseline on it to keep the foreskin from readhering. Well...because we keep vaseline on it & it stays hidden, now we have to fight to keep him from getting a yeast infection! We are trying to potty train & we don't doctor it & keep him as dry as we did when he was in diapers.

The dr keeps telling me he will outgrow it. It is the fat pad that keeps it hidden. blah blah blah...same stuff many of you have been told. My son has weighed the same amount for nearly 2 years now. (give or take 2 lbs) He was incredibly chunky as a baby (28lbs at 1 year!), but he is tall & slender now (32lbs @ almost 3) & still no change. I have seen other chunky baby boys who have "hang time" (as I refer to it). This is my only child & the first boy on my side of the family, so all of this is new to me.

I am thinking of getting a second opinion, but not sure who to see. He has been seeing a pediatric urologist in Shreveport, LA that is supposed to be one of the best in the field. I am looking into going to Dallas or Houston, TX. However, I have also seen some articles online stating that this is cosmetic surgery & is done by plastic surgeons. I don't know what avenue to chose. Anyone have suggestions, comments or advice?
