    Default Hyland's Cough n' Cold 4 Kids

Has anyone tried this homeopathic remedy on their sick toddler? If so, how did it work for you?

My daughter has a really bad runny nose (complete with the green stuff), wet cough and has been getting a fever of 103° each day for the past three days. I'm doing all of the other usual stuff: saline nose drops and nasal aspirator (which haven't helped AT ALL); baby chest rub; cool-mist vaporizer with the Vicks scent pad; elevated head for naps and sleeping; lots of fluids, etc. I just picked up the Hyland's Cough n' Cold 4 Kids last night, but my husband already had her in bed by the time I got home so I couldn't administer it. I'm curious if anyone else out there has tried this and if you found that it helped at all? Any input would be appreciated!

    Hi Tfinite,
    I just saw your message.
I am giving my son (3.5 years) Hyland's Cough 'n Cold 4 kids for the last 8 months. This medicine is doing very well for him.
But my son didn't get fever. Whenever his nose starts running or whenever he starts coughing, we give him this medicine. We know it is costly (I pay $9.00/bottle), but it gives real smooth comfort for him. Normally we do not prefer to other cough medicines, since most of it contain antihistamine. So before we found this cough syrup, once I gave him a well known brand cough syrup, bought from Kroger. After taking one night, next day, he looked tired and drowsy. Of course, his cough subsided, but we thought that he was going to get some illness. So we took him to a pediatrician. She asked us not to give him any cough syrup and asked him to give him honey.
After couple of weeks, while we were in Whole Foods, we happened to see some homeomedicines and since then, we only give him this for cough and cold. He gets well within 4-5 days. Most important, he doesn't feel weak or drowsy.

I also suggest not go do Vicks inhalation. That may reduce the cold, but it can cause sinus (this was suggested to me by a well known pediatrician in Israel). I am sure, you do not want your kid to have sinus.

So next time, when your daughter gets cold or cough, start giving this medicine.

    Good wishes,
    Roh
