Hi, I am looking for family counselor/mediator/psychologist in the Dallas/Fort Worth area...My husband and I had some very serious problems with the way his mother (who lives 500 miles away from us) treated and spoke to our 2 and a half year old daughter during the Christmas holiday. We've had a history of problems with her in other areas as well since we told her we were getting married 5 years ago. This situation was the straw that broke the camels back as she spoke to my daughter in a way we wouldn't even except someone speaking to our family dog! Its getting to the point where we have no other choice but to have a family mediator/cousnselor/psychologist (some impartial third party) get involved and mediate this situation. If this was someone other than my husbands mother, we would literally NEVER see this person again or allow them to have contact with our children as it was very scary situation for my daughter and she still talks about the way MiMi treated her and her mommy. What we'll need is someone who is in the Dallas/Fort Worth or Abiliene area. My husband and I live in Amarillo, TX and his mother lives in Austin, we'd like to travel and equal distance for this so that it is on neutral ground and we both have to make the same amount of effort to be a part of this mediation. If ANYONE knows a good psychologist or counselor in these areas names and contact information would be greatly appreciated! We'd like to maybe schedule maybe 3 or 4 sessions with this person so that my mil has a chance to present her view to the third party and then we have a chance to present ours seperately (so as not to just throw the mediator into this blindly) and then a session or 2 where we can all sit down together. Obviously this would have to be done over the course of just a few days as we would be traveling out of town for this. I appreciate any advice or contact information of a good mediator! THANKS!
