    Default TTC after Birth Control

I am currently taking the Birth Control Patch. I have been on it for about 4 years. I will be taking it for about another month and then me and my husband are going to try to have a baby. Does anyone know about how long it will take for the hormones to leave my body before we should get pregnant? I've heard of some people that get pregnant right away and others that it takes a year. We really want a baby, and any tips on how to get pregnant would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

I can't speak to the patch, but I was on Ortho Tricyclen (oral BC) for 10 years. My mom, a nurse, mentioned that a lot of her coworkers took a while to conceive after stopping birth control. My experience was different. I didn't even quit the pill--I just forgot to take a couple of days pills on time. (my husband and I had discussed having a child soon) I am now the mother of a beautiful 7 month old boy. I wish you luck!!!

i was on birth control for at least 5 years and it took me a year to get pregnant once i fully stopped taking the pill. i wasn't trying to get pregnant but at the same time i wasn't not trying but i did notice the fact that i hadn't gotten pregnant until a whole year later. my cycles were very regular and my period lasted for around 7 days so i deff think that the birth control stayed in my system and delayed things. i would recommend going to ur doc and getting some pre-natal vitamins or buying a muti-vitamin b/c that is supposed to help. start eating a lot of veggies and dark greens. don't stress yourself out b/c that plays a huge factor too and smoking can also delay things. i was once told if u ovulate TOO much...as in u have a lot of sticky goo "down there" u should try taking a tbsp of cough syrup b/c it will help thin the goo out and may actually help in conceiving... i have no idea if that is true or not but that is what i heard from people that actually tried it. so i hope some of this info helps!
