    Question missing period post weaning?

Hey moms, I just recently weaned my son from breastfeeding. This month my period hasn't started... I've taken many many pregnancy tests and it's not that. Has anyone else experienced missed periods post weaning? Wasn't sure if this was normal. I figure if it doesn't show up in another month then off to the Dr we go. Just wanted to find out if anyone else had odd hormonal things happen after breastfeeding. If it makes a difference I breastfed my son for 6 months. Not sure if length of breasfeeding may have contributed to the issue.

    Thanks in advance!

I've nursed each of my children for a year, and never regained a period until they were at least nine months old. If you have only recently weaned your son, it is quite likely that your body is working on regulating all those hormones. Have you been getting your period and then stopped? I might be a little more concerned then, but I would still give it a bit more time. Pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding have permanently altered your body. It is possible that your "schedule" will be different now than it was before. I went from being extremely irregular to very nearly perfect and back again in between children. Cramps and other PMS symptoms might be different for you now as well. Hopefully better and not more intense!
