Baby eczema

I did take him to the doctor and they said I could give him benadryl. It did not seem to help him much, and because its kind of like a sedative, I dont really want to give it to him all the time. There are times I give it to him and he sleeps a little better and times when nothing changes. So I dont know.

Maybe Allegra will work. Ask your doctor about that one or ask for a referral to a dermatologist. I had to ask my doctor for a referral to one, and he granted me one for my oldest daughters. He never brought it up, so I had to ask for one. It really sounds like your son is suffering and it is hard to focus on everything else in your lives when you have to watch him to keep him from scratching. Bring up this issue when asking for a referral. Sometimes they don't think about that type of stuff. I hope you can get relief for him and yourselves soon, because when the next baby comes, you are going to need to focus on the baby too. I know how stressful it is trying to care for multiple children and then have one that needs extra care and attention. I'd hate for you to be stressed out.

I'm a newbie here married with 4 kids I saw your thread and just had to come over.
It could be what your child is eating that causes it, what have you been putting on their skin as i know some great natural balms that work like they did with my little boy.

I think one of the main problems is what he is eating. I have ecently removed milk and cheese from his diet. I dont really know what it is some I'm trying to delete things and cross them off the list as I go. I'm looking forward to some natural ingredients for a change. Thanks.

No probs, have you also looked at what brand your washing his clothes in and the conditioner that could also have something to do with it.

Yes, I have always used products that are supposed to be for sensitive skin. I've used dreft, all free and clear, and currently I use melaluca which seems to be fine...I guess.

That's good to hear I found I had to do the same thing with my son when he was suffering, but as i said he no longer has it.

My 5 month old daughter has excema and very dry skin. Her skin felt dry and scaly all over until I started using Renew lotion from the all-natural company Melaleuca. I also use the 1% hydrocortisone cream from the company and it has done wonders for her skin. Her skin feels like a baby's should now! I use Melaleuca for my cleaning products and laundry soap as well so her clothes don't irritate her skin. The baby lotions I tried only made it worse. Well my son has eczema also and he is almost 8 months old now.. and It is hereditary, I had it till I was about 12 or 13 years old and so did my mother and grandmother.. the only thing that I have found to work for my son is this cream and body wash from Gental Naturals, it has like disney characters on the label and it is a green bottle, you can get it at Kroger or other grocerie stores.. sometimes I will mix the cream with a little bit of baby oil especially after bath & it helps lock in moisture.
