Hello, I'm new to these forums and before I start I just wanted to sat hi to everyone. I will try and make this as short as possible.

I have a 6 year old daughter (soon to be 7) and she is everything to me. For the most part she is a very happy girl and I couldn't ask for a better girl. She is very well behaved, does great in school and loves to dance on the dance team. My only dilemma is that she just doesn't have the opportunity to be around kids all that much (other than school and dance)

My wife and I just don't have many friends and the ones we do have, don't have children. There are no other kids close to her age in the family. We try to make new friends through school and dance but it just seems that everyone is always so busy or they just don't want to get together for play dates or anything else. We get along just great with all these people when we do get together (maybe once or twice a year) so I just don't know what else to do.

My daughter is definitely upset about the situation and makes comments every once in a while. She also says she wishes she had a brother or sister to play with. It kills me everytime she brings it up. I would love to have another child but we tried and it didn't work out so well (thats a whole different story).

Anyone else in a similar situation with an only child? Any ideas how to talk to my daughter about things? I just feel my daughter is missing out on her childhood. Its killing me.
