Default Dealing with the death of a grandparent

Hi, I was wondering if anyone had any advice or experience in dealing with a toddler and the death of a grandparent. My daughter just turned 2 and is very close with my parents. My father was diagnosed with cancer a few months back and while we are hopeful it's an uphill battle and I want to prepare for the event he passes and how to explain that to my daughter.

I son is almost 2 and had to deal with the loss of his grandmother a few months ago due to cancer. He and my 6 year old step son did pretty well. They were both very close to her but I don't think my 2 year old comprehended the thought or concept of death. I just tried to keep it a happy moment for him cherishing all the good times and memories so he will forever keep a positive thought of her. As you and anyone else that has had to go through a loved one battling cancer it is a hard process so I tried to keep it light and always tried to bring my 2 year old to see his grandma before she past because she adored her grand babies. Stay strong.
