Default Do 1st babies come early or late?

I'm wondering if most first babies are born earlier or later than their due date?

I think it really depends on you and if it's ready My first came late..way late I had to be induced So I'm definitely hoping for me to into labor on my own this time but who knows?I don't know if this has anything to do with it but it seems to me more boys come late than girls??It may just be coincidental but with my friends and family thats the way it's been going!

Well I just had my first in august, a son, and he was born on his actual due date, no sooner, no later. good luck!

My son came early, but he was induced and then I had to have a c-section. I'm guess I'm no help what-so-ever. LOL

I went into labor early but had to have a c-section in the end. It was a girl. I know 2 women who had babies around the same time one was 8 days past her due date and the other was 5 days past. They were both girls.

I was induced with my 1st 3 weeks early. I am now pregnant with my 2nd, and with no complications, hopingto make it close to my DD.
My sister has (3) boys. She has (1) and week early, (2) was 4 days late, and (3) was 2 days early.

On average, the first goes much longer than than the second. Your cervix actually retains a type of 'memory' and will dialate much faster after the first delivery. Or so most books say. Take it with a grain of salt. I delivered twins very prematurely in my first pregnancy, and then had to schedule to be induced on my second pregnancy because my DD went right up to the 40 week point. You just never know.

Thanks for the responses! I'm such a planner, it drives me crazy not knowing! I'm 8 1/2 months along so I hope to be pretty much on time...lol.

My dd was almost 6 weeks early. I think it really depends on the person. I'm a planner too....I was definately not finished planning when she arrived.
