I am desperatly seeking help! I have a 6 year old who still poops their pants! I have tried everything I can think of including time out, taking stuff away, I have even made them hand wash(with gloves) their own dirty underwear. I am not sure what else to do. I have spoke to our pediatrician and he says its just a stage we are going through and I would believe that however my child will then lie to cover up the fact they pooped. What options do I have?????I have even rewarded when we have more than 3 consecutive days of going in the restroom as opposed to their pants. Any suggestions or reccomedations would be greatly appreciated.
take your kid to the bathroom every 30 minutes... that way they will get the idea that they need to poop in the toilet... at the age of 6 aren't they at school? what do they do at school? stay consistent... don't let it be ok because it was an accident one time and the other time it punished... always be punished... everytime...
I agree with holly. Pooping in their pants shouldn't be allowed as an accident and I'd try to introduce taking them to the bathroom more often
Try Soiling Solutions. You can look it up online. It saved our lives. My son was 5 and still not potty trained. He was soiling his underwear every day. After one week with the program he was pooping every day on his own in the toilet.
Also, I don't agree with punishing a child for soiling. Kids don't poop their pants because they think its funny or because they're trying to make you mad. Look up encopresis and you may find more info. Kids often soil in reaction to stress, and punishing for soiling creates more stress. Kids with this problem need help, not punishment!
