    Smile Toddler unbuckling car seat

Toddlers are curious and eager to learn and explore. Unlike infants, most toddlers are able to walk, climb, open cabinets, remove caps or unbuckle the car seats. All infant car-seat models come with a handle, and nearly all have a base that secures to your vehicle with LATCH connections or a vehicle safety belt. Lock the infant car seat belt which helps you keep the child safe.

I seem to remember a car seat model that had this big arm that you lower down in front of them after buckling, like on a carnival ride. Have you thought about one of those? It looks impossible to slip out of, although I bet a toddler could figure out how.

With older children who hate to be restrained, this can already happen at age of 3, especially in convertibles where they can actually learn to remove the top buckle; its important to monitor and check to make sure they did not push straps down. Talk to your child about the consequences of not having car seat on, and be brutally honest “ I told them, if you don’t have it on, you may never see mommy or daddy again only in heaven” You be surprised how that plays in their head to not even think about doing it again. Set the example too, buckle up every time yourself. Remind the older children who harness themselves “ I did not hear a click!?” and do not move that car until everyone is securely harnessed.

uhh Mark, a little immature are we?

...If 70 on the interstate is the speedlimit, how does that make her a moron? Our speed limits are 70 and 75 on the interstate depending on how far out of the city you are... She was following the laws and had her child buckled in. That makes her a responsible adult, not a moron...
