    Default 2 years today

Hey. It's been 2 years today since DH and I started trying. I've always had irregular cycles, so I knew it wouldn't be easy, but not only is it hard, it's hard to get HELP. I've seen three different doctors in my small town. The first one, I can't understand, his accent is so thick. The second one wouldn't answer any questions I had, just kept trying to give me a pregnancy test. The third one laughed at me when I couldn't remember what brand of birth control I had been on (a year and a half earlier at that point). I can't seem to get referrals to any specialists and even just regular appointments have to be booked weeks in advance....good ol' Canadian "free" health care. Everything is just taking a LONG time.

My cycles have been anywhere from 26-65 days long in the last 2 years. I've had an ultrasound, hubby has had his swimmers analyzed. Ultrasound came back good, apparently hubby's swimmers are slow, but I don't know if I trust ONE tests results (is it normal for them to send the patient home with the cup for the specimen, and tell them to bring it back quickly after it is filled?). I feel like I need another test. But of course, those tests are never fun for the guys. My last few cycles have been right around 35 days. This time, on day 45, I started spotting, thought it was just the usual day of spotting before the main event. It's been 6 days, still brown spotting. I NEVER have light periods. I don't know. Help?

It took my Aunt 4 years. Their oldest is 12 and their youngest is 4. They started trying when the oldest was 3 and finally had a second baby when she was 7. Hold on to hope.

I don't know about 6 days of spotting though, that sounds unusual. Maybe you should talk to your Dr. I wish you a happy healthy baby in the near future. Good luck.

First of all...it took DH and I 6.5 years and a miscarriage of twins before we were able to have a successful (albeit difficult) pregnancy with DS. Now on pg #2 and doing well so don't give up HOPE!!

Second...the brown spotting sounds like possibly implantation spotting and/or cervical irritation spotting. You may want to look into a pregnancy test.

Third...if the doctors in your small town aren't doing you any good, go to a bigger city and find a doctor that you "mesh" well with. We went through 7 before finally finding one that we absolutely LOVE!!! And, if you're close to the border, would it be beneficial for you to look into a US physician? (just a thought!)

I have a dr's appt. with #4 (fingers crossed) for next Wednesday...here's hoping. This may be wimpy of me, but I don't even wanna take a pg test unless I am already 99% sure. Just don't want to see the negative. Maybe it's avoidance...ha. I'm about 8 hours from the US border, and I don't think there's much on the other side, population wise...but thanks for the idea....coulda been a good plan! I'll try this dr. and hope it works. If not, I am gonna have to get even more proactive, I guess...the city is a very boring (re:NOTHING between here and there) 2.5 hour drive....which would be worth it, I suppose (wow, I'm hearing myself here, not really believing that I actually think the "I suppose" part...) if my local options were 100% exhausted. I'm not trying to be frustrating.................argh.

Thanks for your responses...I've been really hoping someone would say something...so I know I'm not talking to myself.

Ki-my dear friend had a similiar experience with the dye test you were talking about. She was two years into working on #1, when two months after having that test, she conceived. Three years later, after two more years of working on #2, she had the test done again. It was successful! I really hope things work out for you!

Waiting and Ruth-just wondered how the two of you are doing? Trust things are better and you arent giving up!

Hi. I am new to this community. My DH and i started ttc about 16 months ago and today I am feeling utterly frustrated and in need of support. After about 3 months of trying I believe that I conceived but the preg test wouldn't show positive. I had a lot of the pregnancy symptoms. Then about 8 days after my period was due i started severely cramping with stringy blood, blood clots. I got checked out in ER and the doctor didn't quite think i had been pregnant. In any case, it sure felt like it. The same sort of event happened last year in November. Last month we started getting checked out by our small town physician and need to make another appointment with the dr.
I am grateful for all the posts that say 'don't give up hope'. Thank you for that. I am now again 2 days late with my period, which means nothing anymore since i have been 8 days late a few months ago. I've always been spot on, no pun intended.
    Thanks for listening.

Hello all. I am new to this community and thought I would say hi. I am a mom to 3 kids. My first 2 conceived with no problems easily. The life happened and having a 3rd child got put on hold. When we were ready it didn't happen and didn't happen year after year. After 3 years we turned to a wonderful RE with in a month I had an IUI and was pregnant. I had my second DS 4/08. Knowing we wanted one more to complete our family we started TTC when DS was 3 months old. We are now starting our 11th cycle. We returned to the RE in Jan and had my first IUI in Feb. It did not take. March, the RE doubled my meds and my follicles didn't mature then I got a cyst, UGH April and May I had to sit it out due to the Cyst. Each month I feel let down but have never given up hope. I truly believe God is going to give us another child. I am clear to start this cycle and started my meds last night. I have a follicle scan next week and pray that we are good to go for my next IUI. During this last cycle my SIL announced she was pregnant again with #5 I just sat and cried. What is it that I have to work so hard to have a baby and she can pop them out left and right...Oh enough that is my story.

If you have been spotting for 6 days and you do not usually have light periods, then I would definitely see your doctor. That doesn't sound normal and you should definitely seek help from a professional doctor.
