    Talking trying to conceive

Does anyone have some great advice for trying to conceive? My husband and I have decided to try to conceive, and we are really excited to start!
I heard that ovulation tests work, but didn't know if anyone has success.
We are hoping to have a baby girl but don't think that we can control anything like that.
I am making a doctor's appointment to start family planning. I had a papsmear test last Feb and everything came out okay, are there any other tests I need to take? We want to try and relax about this whole thing, not worry, and let things happen. We love "practicing" . Any thoughts?

If I said have sex that wouldn't be much help would it? HAHA. Well I know that my doctor said that if we go for 3 months of trying the old fashioned way and don't conceive that we could try the at-home ovulation kits, which he said we rather helpful if your cycles are normal/regular. He said that after 6 months we should consult a fertility doctor (but that's just in our case where we are less than likely to conceive). I was told to take folic acid, b12, and b1 (i'm a little anemic). I think the only thing doctors really say you should take is folic acid because it cuts the chance of cystic fibrosis or MS or something like that by 50%...so I would take it! My husband and I are thinking about starting soon. Once I get off the pill I'm gonna wait like 3 months until my cycles get normal again so we will know the EDD (estimated due date) of the baby when I get pregnant. Wish us luck. I hope everything goes well for you and you get the baby girl you want (I really want a girl too...boys are icky LOL)

My suggestion, other than have fun trying, is for both of you to start on a multi-vitamin...your husband, one that contains zinc and selenium (both help with sperm motility and count) I think Men's One a day has them both. And a prenatal vitamin for you. It will contain all of the folic acid and b12 that you will need. Other than that, I'd agree w/Marla after 3 months try ovulation kits and after 6 months consult a physician.

My Fiance & I Have Been Trying Since Feb With No Success, But I Blame It On My Birth Control. I Was On It For Like 6 Years Before I Stopped Taking It In Feb. So Hopefully It Won't Take Too Much Longer!! Like Everybody Else Said Start Eating The Best You Can & Take A Pre-natal Vitamin & Def. Folic Acid!! You Can Also Try To Track Your Ovulation W/ Cheaper Methods Before Buying The Ovulation Kits!! Good Luck!!

    Default Thanks!

Thanks for all of your help!! I have been on birth control for almost 8 years now, so I am hoping this will a quick process conceiving! But, we certainly are trying often just about every day, which makes it fun!
I will be getting the prenatal vitamins this week then, and my husband already takes a multivitamin. I have heard rumors that you can attempt to try for conceiving the sex of the baby you want. I dont know if they really work, but we want a girl
