    Question Random Red Bumps...

Just wondering if anyone has had hands on experience with random red bumps on their kids body? My 18 month old son has them on random areas(back, legs, arms and near his bottom). They are not hives and I don't think they are bed bugs?? We live in North Pole Alaska and fleas are out of the question(I think we are one of the only states in America who do not have fleas because it is too cold!!)

If anyone has any input I'd appreciate it!

could it be a heat rash?(I know it sounds funny being in Alaska and all)but sometimes it just from sweat under clothes that irritates the skin sometimes it could be just certain materials...has this been ongoing or something that just spontaneously came about? My son had a spout of roseola this summer and it was small red bumps all over arms, belly, legs, neck??He would of had a high fever for a couple days with that though.GOod luck and let us know the outcome!

That doesn't sound funny at all, but it isn't that either. He has had it for a few days now, but more spots/bumps are coming up. At first I thought maybe food related, but that wasn't the case and I haven't changed laundry soap either. I thought I'd just throw the question out there & see what other moms might say

He doesn't have a fever, no loss or increase of appetite and is acting like his same old same old. So I am at a loss, but if anyone has input just spill your beans! Thanks for the input Melissa!!

Could it be eczema? My son has it. He has little patches of red rashes on his skin. It's on his belly, arms and legs. They appear here and there in patches. Has your son spent alot of time outside in cold weather recently? Cold dry air can bring the rash out. There are some excellent eczema creams out there that seem to work pretty well. Good luck.

My 2 month old has had those little tiny bumps. it's like you can feel them more than see them. they don't seem to bother him at all. I had his Dr look at them and I forgot what she called it but it basically is just a dry skin condition. not eczema, that's what I thought especially since his dad and brother have it. She told me to use a really super mosturizer like eucerin (the non fragrant) and aquaphor. she gave me a bunch of samples and it seems to be doing the job. they're still on his back but seem to be getting better. the aquaphor is almost like vaseline so it's kind of hard to apply and leaves him shiny and slick but it seems to work really well.

My twins had the same thing. Try using baby oil after the nightly bath and use a good lotion during the day (one without alcohol on the ingredient list) It should clear up in a few days.

It sounds like some sort of dry skin/eczema type rash to me. Especially if they seem to get bettter for a while and then reappear. My son had it really bad when he was around 18 months. We tried all the over the counter stuff mentioned above, plus Cetaphil cream, which helped the most, but never fully got rid of the bumps. Eventually we went to the Dr. and got a perscription cream called "Desonide" which is used for Psoriasis ( http://www.psoriasis.org/home/ ) patients. It did WONDERS.

It's also not a bad idea to have a Dr. look at it to make sure it's not an allergy. My husband developed an allergy last year to a specific brand of laundry soap that we've been using for years. Apparently you can develope an allergy to something that you weren't allergic to before!

It may be eczema. My baby has the same condition a few months back. Despite what the doctor told us to do, the breakouts kept coming back. Later on, I learned that to cure child eczema, I have to look at my child's diet, skin care, and the identify the allergen that is causing it. Once I had these 3 things, my baby's eczema never came back. I learned about these at http://www.curechildeczema.com.
