Default Need help toilet training 3 year old!!

I have three year old twins (born Dec. 4th). One of my twin sons has been toilet trained both day and night for 4 months now and hardly ever has accidents. On the other hand, my other son refuses to use the toilet or potty. When he needs to go he runs to the corner and pulls down his pants. If I try to grab him he starts screaming and wees all over the floor and sometimes me. He does this whenever he needs to go. It can be really embarassing when we are at the park and he pulls down his pants in front of other kids and mothers in the playground. I usually just put a diaper on when we go out now, but that is also embarassing as he looks like a 4 year old because he is really tall for his age. I have two other kids (an 18 month old and 5 year old) and am having another baby due at the end of February. I cannot have three children wearing diapers and it is really hard trying to spot the signs when my three year old son has to go when I have three other kids (about to be 4 kids) to watch out for. Can someone please help??

I'm in the midst of potty training my 3 yr old right now, so might not be the best to comment - that being said, I wonder if there is something else going on. That he's using this behavior as a way to get your attention? Maybe you already do have something special that just you and he do together - a book that the two of you read, or some other activity. If you don't, maybe giving him some attention that is positive might cut down on any need for the attention he gets from not being toilet trained. And, if you are doing something special with him, something that a mom friend of mine offered me that was golden was this: at the end of the day while putting her kids to bed she'd go over with them all the stuff they did together that day. She said that her son in particular seemed to remember only the times she wasn't available, not the times she was - and that by reminding him of what they did together he started focusing more on what they did together, instead of what they didn't. Good luck!

Yikes! 3 kids in diapers sounds like a recipe for insanity.

We had potty training success in about average time for our kids, I believe, but when in the middle of it I felt it went on forever. You can't say for sure when it will end, which can get frustrating.

This could be about getting attention, as both boys are the same age. I would focus on the positive, track progress with your son, and reward good choices.

There are tips from experts, as well as parent coaches available, here: http://www.kidpointz.com/parenting-a...potty-training

    Best wishes!

Check out the song Poo Poo on the Potty by Fritz! Kids love singing along and it's funny. It's helping us right now. Look it up on iTunes.
