Default I am new - need advice for 21 mth old

    Hello,

Sorry, if this has been discussed before...I looked and didn't find anything.

For about the past month, my 21 month old son started waking up a few times a week in the middle of the night - this is now up to nearly every night. He wakes up screaming/crying and when I go to get him (yes, we tried waiting it out, but he just keeps going and gets worse), he holds me tight and points out of his room. We go into the living room and most nights he points to the kitchen - indicating he wants milk. So I get him a bottle and we sit down on the couch - he then seems to get agitated and can't decide if he wants the milk or not...cries, reaches for it then stops and cries some more, kicking his legs etc...weird. After a little while, he takes and drinks the milk, then rests and snuggles on me. If I try to put him back in his crib, he goes crazy again...if I try to lie down with him in my bed, he goes crazy - when I say crazy, he just seems very agitated, antsy even...can't stay still, crying and flailing around. So we end up back on the couch where he will snuggle with me for about an hour before he usually dozes off. From here I try to put him back in his crib - 50% of the time he will go, the other 50% he won't and ends up in my bed. He won't go to Dad with out a fight either and then only if I am not in the room.

Sorry for this being so long, but I want to make it clear as I have been told Night Terrors - but I don't think its this because he is awake and wants to snuggle. Its not teeth, as he has had all his teeth for a while.

    Any advice is greatly appreciated!
