Default Is this OCD or just me

My wife this past weekend labeled everything in my 7 year olds son's bedroom as far as every self in his closet and every drawer in his dressers. She sat him down and explained to him that he needs to put everything in its correct place. Now my son's room about 90% of the time is clean as far as no toys on the floor and very few are out in the open. I explained to my wife that this is getting carried about to think that a 7 year old boy has to have this done that it is getting close to OCD. Am I in the wrong, should I expect him to put every toy back in a certain place instead of just putting them away where he wants them.

from the sound of it, yes a little ocd. I understand a simple labelling system such as toy cupboard, clothes cupboard etc although a 7 year old would surely know what to put where? also its ok to have a messy room, so long as it is cleaned up at the end of the day, not everything must be back in a certain place only. Its a kids bedroom not a museum. Maybe your wife has always been a very organised person and is trying to pass this on albeit in an unusal way
