    Default Newlyweds TTC

My husband and I have been married for almost 3 weeks now. (Have been together for 5 and a half years.) And we're wanting to have a child hopefully in the next couple of years. Not only because we want to be parents but also he's a little afraid to have a kid after he turns 30 (he's 28 & I'm -almost- 25).

For the past 5 years I was on Depo. I went off this April and got my period back in June. I've been reading up on tips on TTC, one way being tracking your periods/ovulations. The only issue is since June I've gotten my period a week later every month (and so every month there's a week or two where I wonder - and it drives me crazy!!). I'm planning on starting to check my temp to help know when I'm ovulating and I also bought prenatal vitamins.

I just took a pregnancy test today because I've been feeling weird the past week. It was negative. Anyone have any tips? Also, should we be "trying" more than once a week now that we want a kid?

Start taking prenatals now - that way your body will have all it needs upon conception.
Read the book "Take Charge of Your Fertility". It will explain all you need to know about temping and everything else to help you time everything just right.

Checking temp only lets you know when you have ovulated, checking cervical fluid (which the book will address too) will let you know when you are your most fertle each month. "Trying" every other day tends to be the accepted norm during your fertle period, afterall you are fertal for 3-5 days, thus once a week will mean odds are you'll miss the right day.

One advice from me: trying once a week does not make sense when you are trying to conceive. And the reason is the following: every cycle you only have 6 days when you are fertile (these are 5 days before ovulation and the day of ovulation itself). Therefore, I would suggest you save your energy during the rest of the days and try hard in these 6 days!!!
Now the most difficult part is how can you find out when your "golden 6 days are"??
This is not that easy and some tools I would advice you for that are Ovuline and FertilityFriend. I particularly prefer Ovuline as it is easier to use and presumably more accurate because it is hardly based on scientific evidence. It helped me conceive my baby and I'm sure it will help you as well!
    The website is: www.ovuline.com
Register there, keep track of your cycles, temperature and cervical mucus and find out when your highest chances of conception are. And once you know the days, you know what to do
