Question Trying for baby #3 need help

I am trying for baby #3 ... I want a boy so bad I have 2 little girls one is 3 and one is 21 months... I started my period on 8/17/11 and I am currently ovulating I had intercourse the 27th and 28th Could I get pregnant that quick ( I really didn't want to get preg. this month due to having some teeth work done before I get pregnant Because I know they can't do any dental work while your pregnant ..But I have heard different things about ovulation I heard that its 14 days from the day you started your period and I have heard its 11 days after you start your period so I am not to sure how it works? My first daughter I was on BC and my 2cnd daughter I was on Nuvaring ( I got preg. on nuvaring because they fail to tell you it needs to be refridgerated ) But anyways , This time we are actually planning to have another baby and need tips on how to do so because both previous pregnancies were not planned . So I need help understanding how things work? And I have also heard differnet myths about how to conceive a boy are some of these myths true or false ? Someone please help? Plus I had the mirena taken out on 8/26/11 ..... Can I get preg. that quick and that easy?

Ovulation is a funny thing. 11 and 14 days are correct, so is 21 or more.
If your cycles are consistent, and about 28 days long, then you are probably ovulating between days 12 and 16 or so. It really depends on a lot of factors.
It is possible, I would assume for you to get pregnant already.
I wouldn't worry about the dental work too much. 1st, inform your dentist, but worst case you might have to wait until 2nd trimester (I have read that is a good time for necessary dental work).
If you really want to track your cycle, consider the basal body temperature method (Take Charge of your Fertility is a good book that teaches it).
Basically you take your temperature every morning and that tells you if you ovulated.
And You check your cervical fluid, and that tells you if you are about to ovulate/are in your fertile period

Good luck, hope you have a healthy baby when you want it, and a bonus if it is boy :-)
PS - the Take charge book also gives hints for increasing your odds for one sex over the other :-)
