Elementary School Online?

I've been considering enrolling my daughter (age 7) in an online school called eTutor. She missed a little over a semester of school due to a terrible accident, which thank God she has mostly recovered from. eTutor has an elementary school credit recovery program and they're accredited so it seems like a good option to catch her back up. Especially since I'm a stay at home mom.

Is anyone familiar with eTutor or another online credit recovery program? Is this a good option for my child?

I am not familiar with eTutor but I am familiar with online schooling. Having been a counselor at an elementary school and currently a website contributer and writer on parenting issues, I have explored extensively the schooling options available. Online schools are definitely becoming more popular and you have eliviated my biggest concern about online schools by saying that you are a stay at home mom. I don't believe that children have the discipline to be self motivated with regard to school and therefore will need supervision to get the most out of online schooling. Secondly, as a mother of a child with Crohn's Disease, I know many parents who have experienced the same thing that you are going through when their children were too sick to attend school. This may provide your daughter with the ability to catch up and bypass the downfalls of retention. The governing powers that be have been slow to set up guidelines to govern these online schools, so be careful when signing your daughter up for one. Do your homework so that you avoid some of these fly by night schools that are popping up. The school districts in my area are hooking up with some very reputable virtual schools that provide both full time schooling and ala carte schooling for all ages. If your district has hooked up with a virtual school, you can be sure that they did their homework before picking that school.
