Default TTC baby #2 while breastfeeding!

Hi! I'm new to this forum. Here is some background info about me, I have a son who is just about to turn one. I've only breastfed him and have started the weaning process. Right now he only nurses before bed and if he wakes in the night. I have only had one period back when he was 4 months but haven't had one since.

Here is my question. Can I get pregnant if I have not had a regular period? I think I'm ovulating but it's hard to say! Any thoughts out there???

    Thanks!

Hi there. You should not have to wean your son to get pregnant. Our son was 1 when we got pregnant with our daughter. I stopped taking my birth control 4 months before we tried. I only had 1 period (the month we got pregnant) and actually got pregnant that first month. I did not start my son on cow’s milk until he was about 14 months so I was actually about 4 months pregnant when we stopped and was full time breastfeeding for the first 2½ months. It was his choice to stop (at about 15/16 months). I did get a “period” and had a no on a test the next month so when I went to my doc for the first appt and found out I was actually 12 weeks along and not the 8 that I thought I was surprised. So you can do it, do not think that you need to stop breastfeeding to conceive. There was about a 3-4 day period when my son would not drink much. They say that the taste of the milk can change slightly and that was probably at about the time of that. They are 21 months apart and he is 2½ now and she is 10 months. They are really great pals and he is really good with her. Best of luck to you!!!!
