Thread: Night Weaning

  1. #1

    Default Night Weaning

I have successfully night weaned our 1 year old twice now but due to teething and fevers the night waking has started once again. And when there were fevers and lots of tears I started back up the night feedings. I'm just curious who has had success with night weaning & what tips you might have for me!?

Since you have had success, next time you get night wakings, deal with them in other soothing ways rather than nursing. I found if I would nurse my child once a night then a few days later he would wake up twice, then soon with was 3-4 nursings at night. (He was over a year at this time I think), I learned after weaning nights a few times to just not let it start. As far as fevers go, I would night nurse, but cut him off cold turkey when the fever was gone. It's hard, but stick to your plan despite the tears. We also found a sippy cup of water was helpful, rejected at first, but now (at age 2) part of our nightly routine to take a cup of watr to bed.
