Stop BFing when DD is teething??

I'm just wondering how some of you dealt with the pain after the kiddo gets their first tooth. My DD is almost 5 months and has both her bottom teeth. Since she got them it's been so painful to nurse I'm debating weaning her. I wanted to BF until she was at least 6 months old or longer.

For me, other than bitting during a few of the teething months, the actual nursing with teeth hasn't been a problem (we are starting to wean at 27 months).

Consider positioning her slightly different so her mouth is angled a bit different so the teeth are not rubbing on you.
Encourage her to take in more of the areola, this will lead to a better latch with less rubbing.

If she is chewing or bitting on you instead of nursing, take her off and tell her "no bite".
To help prevent the bitting to begin with have her gum something cold or rub her gums with a wet cloth to help sooth them so she will not sooth them on you.
I have even used teething gel to numb my son's gums before nursing on the days he really wanted to chew.

Good luck, and nurse for as long as you feel up for it. The older they get the more fun it gets.
