    Default your opinion...

    hello.
i'm new to this whole parenting.com forum thing, but i'm going to give this a try.

i'm expecting a little girl around july third, and have already thought of a name. i'm going to name her bailey alice. the only concern i have is this: bailey means bailiff. really? it couldn't mean something cuter than bailiff?! my boyfriend and i are stuck on this name though, and don't want to change it at all. is the meaning behind a name REALLY that important? my name's shayna, and it means beautiful, so i've always been somewhat fond of my name. i'm scared that as bailey gets older and her and her friends talk about what their names mean she'll realize that hers means bailiff and be ashamed, or hate it. i don't want her to hate me because of it. am i worrying too much? what do you think?

    thanks for your opinions!
    Shayna

Bailey is a pretty popular name. I wouldn't worry too much about it if that's the name you guys like the best.

What really matters about the name, is not it's historical meaning, but the meaning to the parents and why they chose it for their child. That's the story and meaning she will remember.
Also, I did find this "A bailey can also mean the outer wall of a castle, or the courtyard between the two outer walls of a castle."
