Default To Please the Grandmother or Not?

I am having my third child in May. It will be my second girl. My DS is named after my DH and my father-in-law. My DD is named after my great-grandmother. That being said, both names are family names and everyone really likes them. I am having some trouble coming up with a name for this one. I really love Stella, but it isn't a family name at all. My grandmother loves the name Polly. I'm not a big fan, but I thought I could use it as a middle name. But I have no idea what first name goes with Polly. My last name is two syllables, so I figure the first name should be either one syllable or three +. Any suggestions? Or should I just stick with the name that I love?

As much as it is nice to please family, you are the one who is going to use your child's name over and over. Go with a name that you like and enjoy. I'd let grandma know that you have considered her name and almost used it as a middle name, just really wanted Stella and didin't think that Stella Polly would be fair to your little girl. She will probably be flattered that you seriously considered the name she liked. Afterall, she already had a chance to name her own children, naming yours is simply a bonus.

I agree with Newmom. Naming your child is completely your decision and not something you want to be rethinking later. Go with a name you LOVE. Your family will understand, and after seeing that precious face, nothing else will matter anyway!

Thanks everyone for your replies. I think the DH and I have decided to go with one of the names that we chose. We never mentioned to anyone that we were considering using Grandmother's favorite name, so at least we don't have to deal with explanations. That being said, which of these names do you like better: Rowan or Remi. I know they are both unisex names, but these were just about the only two DH and I could agree on and ones that flow with our other two kids' names. The middle name will probably be Claire for both.
