Default Have I shaken my baby too hard?

    Hi

I am the father of a newborn baby (3 weeks old) And I am paranoid that I recently shook my baby too hard.

I was cradling my girl in my arms with her head resting on my arm near the inside of my elbow, the way I always rock her to sleep. She was crying for hours, I had a headache and had no sleep for hours (obvious common problem) when I shook her vigorously four to five times up and down for the time of about 1 second. Her head and body stayed in the same straight position and her head did not bounce in my arm. She stopped crying but was back to her old self 5 seconds later

I understand that shaken baby syndrome (looked at everything on the internet for the past two days) is caused by holding the baby upright and violently shaking it so that its head moves back and forth but I am still worried that I may have done something to harm her.

There are no signs of any hurt to her (having researched the symptoms of mild shaken baby syndrome) and obviously will never do this again but I would just like to hear if I have done anything terribly wrong.

    Thank you.

Consult your doctor right away and get anger management classes and parenting classes. If 3 week old can frustrate you that much, what is a toddler going to do to you - or you to her?

You will obviously not do this again? Why in the hell would you shake her the first time!?

I hope for that baby's sake that you are a troll and that baby doesn't even exist.

I sincerely hope this is a troll, but just in case it isn't:

you fucking piece of ****. have you done something terribly wrong? of course you did!!! you've endangered the life and well being of YOUR OWN innocent child! if you're willing to do this to your child, what else are you willing to do? why on earth did you have a child if you're so easily frustrated and have no control? I wish there was a way for me to find out who you are. I'd have you arrested. and if you did this to my child, I'd fucking castrate you.

I dont know if the guy who made this post but I understand what he has done will haunt him for the rest of his life. (yes he has done wrong)

I have to been tried by my little one and I have given him a gentle shake and hug to calm him, he was 2 -3 months and I have never ever displayed to violently shake him. I understand the consquences and now have CBT and help and support. Mum and Dads everywhere we all have been tested with our own children but some people have depression and have no-one! i'm certainly not happy with what I did but I will live with this until I die and know it rightly so that anything wrong that happens is my fault

I so understand his acknowlegement to atleast admit what he did too. (hes not alone...)
