Hi all, I'm part of a non-commercial American-Brazilian research project for measuring people's vocabulary sizes, from small children to adults. We have a site which lets you measure the size of your (or your child's) vocabulary with a very short and easy quiz.
But while we've gotten thousands of responses from adults, we hardly have any for children ages 2-15.
So I wanted to invite any of you who might be interested to try it out, at:
http://testyourvocab.com
It's a short quiz you can do together with your child to see which words they know, and at the end it tells you the size of your child's vocabulary. And it works for you too, as well.
Again, the site is entirely non-commercial. We're researching at what rate vocabulary increases with months/years of age, as part of a larger project involving native and foreign language learning. And as soon as we have a couple thousand participations from children, we'll post the results immediately so you can compare your child's progress against his or her age peers.
We hope this is something interesting and informative to do with your child. If this post is considered spam in any way or is inappropriate for the Education forum, we apologize.
Best,
Michael
