Default Help - son is sick

My son is 6.5 years old. He’s had fever for one week. His other symptoms are a rash that appears on his neck, upper arm and chest, only when he’s in between doses of Advil. So when the fever hits, he gets these symptoms. He also gets a rash on his big toe, the joints of his other toes and the top of his foot, and complains that his feet hurt so bad he can’t walk. But it goes away when Advil reduces the fever. He’s been complaining of a constant head ache. At the hospital they gave him antibiotics and told me he has strep throat. But not only does he not have a sore throat but he doesn’t even have a runny nose or any other cold like symptoms. The doctor in the ER made her diagnosis based on his strawberry tongue (which isn’t strawberry when the fever falls). The Strep throat swab won’t be back for another day or so. His fever and head ache have kept him home from school for one week now. After one week of this, he’s worn out. I don’t know if it’s related but about 2 weeks ago he had a coughing fit for a few days. Any ideas? Please help.

Go see his regular doctor. ER doctors are great in emergencies, but they usually are lacking knowledge needed to treat pediatrics in non imidiate life threatening situations. A fever for that long would concern me and you should get a second opinion.
