bumper for converted crib to day bed

for the life of me i can't seem to find a bumper that will fit my son's toddler daybed, it was a crib that converts to a toddler day bed. if there is someone out there that can help, please do so. i need websites, stores that carry a 3 sided bumper.

I don't know of any stores that carry them. My kids never slept in toddler beds, just went from crib to bed. But my two year old niece sleeps in her crib converted to toddler bed. My sister said that the reason they don't sell three sided bumpers is because you shouldn't be using a bumper with a toddler bed. In fact, the AAP now recommends NO bumpers at all for babies in cribs. If you feel you MUST use a bumper, they recommend the mesh type.

Is there a reason you want to use a bumper? Does he wedge his head in the corner? My girls lost pacifiers between the wall and the bed when they were transitioning to the big bed, and that was a problem. I solved it by wedging a thin pillow between the wall and their bed frames.

I can't help with that one.....BUT I do have a question about your toddler bed. Did yours come with a side rail for the toddler bed?? Our convertible turns into a daybed as the toddler bed - which will be great. Except for the fact that we didn't know it does not come with any kind of side rail. some come with a partial side rail to keep kids for rolling out. i called that manufacture and she said they don't make them for our brand. I can't even use the generitc ones in the store because her "toddler" mattress is too light!!! UGH!! I feel like I waisted some money. There is NO WAY she will not roll out of the toddler bed!!! How are you handling your toddler bed??

Woratyla, have u tried hooking up the generic rail then tying it to something heavy under the bed thur the metal bottom that holds the mattress?

Irispoppy, you shouldn't use a bumper. Hubby wanted to use one on our toddler bed cuz he's afraid of Jade hitting her head on the wooden bed frame, so far it's not an issue cuz she sleeps in my bed which has been a mattress on the floor since she was a newborn (nap nursing FTW!!!).
Anyway if the bumper is a must you can make your own from scrap or just cut an existing one and sew up the ends. If you don't have a sewing machine and want it to look perfect then try fabric glue or a hot glue gun. Just fold the flaps on one opening, iron it or use pins to keep the fold. Then put the glue in place and pinch close, Viola!

Hi, I have a 3 year old daughter and purchased a really cute Disney Princess toddler bed [made of wood] for her with the side wood rails. But every night I hear her head banging at some point on the wood rails. I want to just go buy a crib bumper and fit it over the sides of the rails to protect her head, but I'm worried about using a bumper at this stage, as I have heard it's not a good idea. Not sure what to do ... but she's even asked me to do something about it [poor thing] because she keeps hitting her head at night. I'm about to just get rid of this bed and buy her something else, but will I have the same problem with all of the beds with rails? Her twin brother has a car bed that's made of plastic and he doesn't have this problem, but I don't find car beds for girls unless they're in the hundreds of dollars.

If anyone has any thoughts on it, I'd greatly appreciate it!

I believe I have the perfect solution for you! I, too, have a convertible crib and met with the same bumper issue. There is a safe, mesh crib bumper by BreathableBaby that is perfect for cribs with a drop-down rail. It is a two-piece bumper. One is for the three sides, and one for the rail. It just wraps around the slats in the crib and secures very well with velcro. You can get is several places online, but here is one link for you:

FYI: To look at the picture, it doesn't look like it is padded very well, but in reality it is "just enough". My daughter is a VERY active sleeper, and a bumper has always been a necessity. This was our solution and have been very grateful for it. We've turned several parents on to this bumper and all have been happy with it.

hey for anyone who's looking for bed bumpers for toddlers- I know my little guy sleeps like a helicopter & when we put switched him to the adult bed from his crib it was bad, he would wake up crying because he was hitting his head against the walls & I was scared he would fall out from the end of the bed. Anyways I went to a local safety store in Miami and found these new wall bumpis & they're great! Check them out on their website:

By the time your child is old enough for a toddler bed, the risk of suffocation from bumper pads is so very, very miniscule. Virtually everything else they do is a bigger danger: car rides, bathing, eating, walking, you name it.
Use a regular four-sided bumper and just fold it around the open side and continue attatching it to the crib bars on the outside. That will also protect the wall that side of the crib is up against!

Babies R Us sells bumpers that are four pieces instead of one. That way you can just tie the pieces on the ends and one side, and not have to worry about the open side. My son's crib has a solid back, and that's what I had to buy for it. They're just solid colors.

I think for me you should find a suitable converted crib to day bed not just here but in other sources as well. That would definitely help you out in the long run for your needs for your kid's bed in the long run. You would be able to really save up a lot on that one!
