I wanted to start this Thread because I searched and didn't find any posts about cribs in general. So Please All Parents feel Welcome to share your stories about Cribs!
My son's Crib is made by: ChildESIGNS
I have a 18 mth old baby boy, and he loves being in his crib, he takes 1-2 naps a day and sleeps in his crib all night.. Well for the past 1-2 mths he has been getting his poor lil legs stuck in the crib. And this has happened to him over 15-20 times already. There has been many times it took me over 20-30 minutes to get his leg or legs out. This also happens alot while he is sleeping, that he will wake screaming because his leg/ legs are stuck in the crib...And boy does he panic and cry! And every time it just breaks my heart.. He is getting small little bruises on the areas that gets stuck. I feel that he is to young to be converted into a toddler bed, because he's not even trying to climb out of his crib. And plus I have two other children that are 13 yrs & 11 yrs, and when they were babies I Never had this problem.
And when I put my son to sleep, sometimes he likes to play in his crib, and soon he will be asleep, this is rough for me now, because at night when I'm tired and ready to go to sleep, I can't because I'm scared he's going to get his leg stuck again. My son still wakes up in the middles of the night, and sometimes it takes him awhile to fall back to sleep, and in that time> I have to stay awake until he falls asleep. Its horrible.
My family has stressed to me that one day or night my son is going to be sleeping and turn quickly in his sleep and maybe break his leg, if it is stuck in the crib when he turns quickly. I feel that a crib shouldn't be made so poorly, that when these cribs were designed that they should have been testing to the extreme.. There is over a 2 inch gap in the crib, and with this gap any child can get their leg or legs stuck. This issue needs to be heard! I would hate to know that in the future it keeps happening to babies!
I have attached pictures of my sons legs, so everyone can get a detailed look at what I go through when this happens!! Thanks and Yes I have emailed the company of my son's crib and also attached the same pictures, so they can see what is going on too.
P.S. Don't get me wrong! I Love my son being in his crib. He has slept great in his crib since he was 4-5 mths old. And He loves his crib, in fact.. I can't get him to sleep anywhere else, b/c he is so used to sleeping in his own crib and bedroom.
And also, I have heard and read about all the recalls on cribs, and I have done a complete research about babies/toddlers getting their legs stuck..

If you think the crib doesn't meet standards then let the Consumer products safety commission know (www.cpsc.gov) it is even possible it has already been recalled- you can search for recalled products on the same site. That company does have a recall for childESIGN http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml10/10134.html
He is probably old enough for a bed. I have seen many people post about putting their 13mo and older into beds. I have been told that while they understand the confines of the crib (not climbing out) you will be more successful in keeping them in a bed. From the photos, it looks like your son is purposely putting his legs through the bars, I have a hard time seeing the knee going past the bars without some effort
In the meantime, consider a bumper that you have pushed down between the mattress and bars so it sticks up 2-3 inches. This will prevent him from being able to use the bumper as a step to climb out (if it were just sitting over the mattress) and it will prevent his legs from accidentally getting into the bars.
