Ok. I had my follow-up ultrasound today and we have a heartbeat!!!! I was so relieved. It has just been the longest week waiting to find out if all is well, but it is. I have now been told that I am 7 weeks pregnant. I'm really excited. I'm also really glad that I can stop freeking out about the baby for now. Oh yea, I was so worried about not feeling pregnant... I now have boobs that feel like lead balloons, I'm still exhausted, and I am on the brink of throwing up all day, every day. this lasted for the first 6 months with my son. I hope I'm lucky enough to only have this for 12 weeks this time...

    Default due April 23rd!

HI everyone....congrats to all of us and our diamond babies! Im due April 23rd and went in for my first appointment last wednesday. I had an ultra sound but just like geoh, they only detected the yolk sack...my hubby and I are convinced we saw the tiny flutter of a heart beat but the Dr. said it was too faint to call. Next week im scheduled for another one, if all is okay they should definitly be able to see a strong beat. Pray for me, I lost my last baby early in pregnanacy and cant set my mind at ease until I see a healthy heart beat. I havent told anyone in my family that im expecting and cant wait to share the news!

Thank you so much geoh. It feels so good to know that I can turn to this forum to voice my feelings and concerns to women who understand eachother so well. It has definitly been the longest wait ever, Wednesday is not coming fast enough! All I can do is stay positive and believe my baby is growing strong. I have a three year old daughter, so if God forbid anything happen, He has already blessed me.

    Question

For those of you who have been here before... is it uncommon not to have a first appointment until 10 weeks? This is our first pregnancy, and I've had 2 appointments cancelled (once by me, due to a work conflict, and once by the doctor's office). I've been rescheduled again for this Thursday, September 11. At that point, I will be 10 weeks. Is this unusual? I know that there's really not much that needs to be accomplished through the first trimester, but still, it seems so many people go in at 5, 6, 7 weeks, that I feel "behind the ball." Has this been anyone else's experience?

Like I said, this is #1 for us, so I don't really know what to expect.

    navybride:
When I was pregnant with my daughter, I didnt have my first appointment unitl I was 10 weeks along. I was actually very surprised when I was scheduled so soon for this pregnancy, I just figured it was because of my history that they wanted to check me out early. Also with my DD i didnt get an ultrasound until I was 5 months. So dont worry, you're not behind the ball. It may just be because it is your first and have no history for concern.
