    Question Blood test question

Based on the date of my last period, I am six weeks along. However, based on levels in my blood taken at the lab yesterday, I am only four weeks along. We did a lab because I was spotting. My levels rose since my lab last week so the doctor believes everything is okay but now that I have realized the discrepancy I am a bit worried . . . Should I be???

I don't think so. I'm no doctor, but from what I've heard everyone else say, there are a lot of different things they take into consideration for estimating where you are. The first time I went to the doctor, my period said I should be 6 weeks, but when we got the ultrasound, it said I was almost 7. Their calculation doesn't always take into consideration how long between your periods and other things about your body that differs from others. I wouldn't be worried unless the doctor says that she's worried about it. If your levels are rising, and all signs still point to pregnant, there's no need to be concerned (in my opinion). Good Luck!

I wouldn't worry, it is normal for estimated dates to change. I agree with brittnee, if the dr's aren't concerned then don't worry about it and enjoy your pregnancy. Good luck :-)

Thank you so much for your responses - it is greatly appreciated. Unfotunately it turns out I was right to worry and I wish that I would have called the doctor back immediately, pointed out the discrepancy and asked her about it. I went from feeling that things were okay (because that is what the nurse told me,) to a miscarriage the following day. Asking the doctor wouldn't have changed the outcome but maybe it would have helped to prepare me a bit since I went from worried, to feeling things were okay, to utter despair.
