    Unhappy Third Kidney

OK... so I am 40 years old and have 3 full kidneys, 1 is not functioning. The pain from it trying to function is excruciating. I completely feel for your daughter. My pain started 17 years ago and they have not taken it yet. I was just at the hospital Wednesday and they finally saw that there was urine and infection in it. This is the proof that they needed to remove it. If her kidney is what is causing the pain, get it removed. They will have to take part of the good kidney it is attached to and she will be out of commission for a couple months recuperating, but get it done. DO NOT LET HER GO THROUGH THE PAIN. Kidney stones have nothing on this pain as it gets worse. My mom had 3 kidneys and she didn't know about it until she was 67 years old. She never had an issue with them. Some people are lucky, some are not. I have lived 40 years with UTI, Bladder, and Kindey infections. If they want to remove itm let them. If it is not a 3rd kidney, and just the pole of the kidney is not functioning, make them remove the bad portion. Good Luck!!!

I know a friend who has the same condition. It's nothing to worry about as long as they're all connected.

    Default 3 kidneys

I have had three kidneys all my life (two on the right side, the third is slightly smaller than the other two), and I function just fine with no issues. It is nothing to worry about, they all work fine, and I have a spare that I can donate if family ever needs it and still have two for myself!
