My husband and I are also expecting our first child in September (21st). I can't wait for the second trimester b/c I am so TIRED of nausea and heartburn!! I'm sure some of you can relate! I go in for my second OB visit Monday, and this will be the first time my husband has been able to go with me, so he will get to hear the heartbeat for the first time...exciting stuff!

Hope all of you are having healthy, happy pregnancies!

    Talking It's a boy!!!

    Hi All,

I am so excited to finally be in my second trimester. My due date has changed, yet again, and am now due September 9th. I went in last week for my Nuchal Translucency Screening (1st trimester test for chromosomal abnormalities) and passed with flying colors. Whew! I went in thinking I was 12 weeks and came out being closer to 14 weeks. I knew I was farther along than they had thought!! My due date had already been changed twice before this but a Nuchal Screen will give you the most accurate account of your babies age. Also, the were able to tell by 99.96% that we are having a little boy. I had looked on the internet and read that is was a possibility to find out during one of these tests. I told my husband that it was going to be a very long day and that he may want to sit this one out. It really only took about 5 min + a blood test. My husband was super anxious to find out the gender but I wanted it to be a surprise. The experience was so amazing. This was my first abdominal sonogram. All others had been vaginal up to this point and everything looked a little like a blurry blob. My baby actually looked like a little baby finally and tears immediately started streaming down my face. He was so beautiful. He was sucking his thumb and twisting and turning to get away from the sono thing poking my belly. I saw him moving around and at that moment..it was so real. The technician asked if I were sure I wanted to know the gender and I did. He told me not to go out and break the bank of baby clothes until I had my 18 week to confirm but 99.96% is a pretty accurate. It took everything in me to be calm when my husband called and asked how everything went. I told him everything except what he wanted to know and when he finally asked "WELL, WHAT ARE WE HAVING!" I said..oh, they weren't able to tell. We have to wait 4 more weeks. He was soo bummed out. I ran out and found this adorable baby blue onesie that said "little boy" with a baseball bat as the i and a baseball as the o. My husband and I had dinner plans that evening and as we ordered and were chatting prior to the food arriving, he excused himself to the men's room. I set the folded onesie in his chair and anxiously waited for him to get back. As he did, he pulled the chair back, lifted the onesie out of the chair and said..aww this is cute....then paused a min...took a couple of seconds to think to himself then looked at me and said.."Is this what I think it is!". He was like a little kid that couldn't compose himself for the rest of our dinner. He has been on cloud 9 every since. It just makes me wonder.....would we have reacted the same to a sweet little girl?? I hope to find out in another two years or so!

Sorry for the lenghthy post but I have been so excited since that sonogram.

    Have an awesome week, mommies!

Hello! My due date is Sept 24th, this will be my third birth. I currently have a daughter who is 12, and a son who is 6. Yep, it would seem with endometriosis every 6 years I'm fertile enough! Although my husband and I decided after our son we were good with two (girl and boy). We took measures to prevent another pregnancy but despite that and endometriosis, here we are yet again expecting. Now that the shock is over we are both extremely excited. At age 33 I at first though, "I'm too old for this!" and keep in mind my eldest is 12 so we thought we were done as well (I was on Yasmin after switching from the depo shot a few years ago for birth control). So being that .1% is kinda neat.
Anyway we do not as of yet know if we are having a boy or girl. With siblings in the house its much the same. My daughter is happy yet not extremely interested as she was with her brother. She wants a sister to pal around with this time. My son, being the only boy so far has decided although really excited that I'm having a baby (he talks to my belly frequently to check on the baby) wants a girl as well. My husband is another story. He says girls are too much work and wants another boy. Ha ha. I myself will be happy either way. Yet I can't help but dream and hear the name Sam a lot. I feel as if I'm having a boy again. THe feeling was extremely strong with my son Nathaniel. After some discussion and debate and tossing out the name Wolfboy Nate suggestion as the babies name. We came up with Zoe Anne for a girl and Samuel Jacob "Sam" for short. I did flirt with idea of using Samantha for a girl however my daughter chose Zoe when I was pregnant with my son and Anne is from my elder sister. So we'll stick with that in honor of both.
I'm feeling rather well. I had no morning sickness, nausea or anything. I didn't have it with my first two either. Eating small meals every few hours (not until your full or stuffed feeling, just enough to not be hungry) really helps in my opinion. From early pregnancy to full term. Avoiding spicy, oily or over season foods helps, I have no heart burn. Never have. I have always had a lot of fatigue with all my pregnancies. With my daughter I was a single parent and working so I had little time to cat nap. However with my second I was married and my husband was happy to have me at home. So I got in cat naps which helped a lot. I find I'm energized in the mornings, tired in the afternoons, up and going in the evenings and ready for bed come 8 PM. Ha ha. Having an older child to help is a blessing too. My daughter is wonderful. She truelly is. She's not quite the mother hen but never complains if I ask for help or for her to do something. I can't ask for better than that.
We have an ultra sound on May 9th coming up. Cross your fingers that we'll find out what we're having!
    God bless.
