    Default Bug Bites

My daughter has been getting a lot of bug bites at night. I'm assuming they're mosquito bites, because I've never heard of anyone in our area having bed bugs. I never see bugs in her room, but every morning she has more bites. How can I keep her from getting bitten?

We were having the same problem so at night I started doing a more in depth bug search and more than once found misquitos in behind his dresser and under his teddies I has on the floor..sneeky buggers..lol.He hasn't been bitten as bad lately How old is your DD? I didn't know this but you can start putting bug spray on them at 6 months,I put a little bit on him avoiding his hands and I mostly spray his clothes, shoes and hat(when we go out side and there are alot of bugs).I hope this helps

She's 10 months. I just felt so bad that she was waking up every morning with more bites! My husband tried putting a sticky trap under her crib, and last night there were no new bites! Thanks for the reply--is there a particular bug spray you really like?

hi there, u may want to spray the outside of the windows with listerine. i know this probably sounds weird but i no longer invest in bug spray b/c of the chemicals and it doesnt work well. when we go outside to play i take a spray bottle of listerine and spray it around the kids swingset and the patio are where we are at, and we dont even get as much as one bug on us. not sure y this helps but i love the listerines affect and the idea that its not going on my kids.

We had the same situation! The brand our pediatrician recommends is Cutter with 10% Deet. From 8 months to up this is great stuff! I actually sprayed some in his room (corners, under bed, etc... and then we left the house for a play date. No more bites! I also use Bengal brand bug spray on the outside of our doors and windows to keep any critters at bay...
Listerine did NOT work for us, and snopes.com said this was false anyway, fyi

I have been using the OFF-skintastic for kids, and so far no complaintsI don't find it has a harsh smell like most others do and it doesn't leave his skin feeling sticky or anything.I too have found that the listerine trick didn't work for us i don't know if I didn't put enough or what? This time of year around here is CRAZY full of them buggers so maybe it just isn't strong enough??I hope your bug biting days are history..lol

My little boy was getting bug bites too. we decided that it was either chiggers, which are only supposed to bite animals but they get easily confused, or fleas, cuz the other apartment goers walk thier dogs in the same area that he plays. We decided to go all out. Get a flea/bug bomb from walmart for each room in your house. it says that you should stay away for a few hours, but i recommend finding a place to stay for the night. then wash everything that he touches, and vacuum the floors and couch. this includes washing all his clothes!! but it is totally worth it, my son hasnt been biten since and it has the added bonus of killing any other kind of bugs that wander into your place like spiders. havent had any of those either!
